Crescent Moon and Gemini's Twins (pre-dawn)
Early risers on Friday morning, August 2 can see the pretty crescent moon shining low in the east-northeastern sky. Look a palm's width to the left (or celestial northeast) of the moon for Gemini's brightest stars Pollux and Castor. Skywatchers in more westerly time zones will see the moon a little closer to Pollux, the lower, brighter, and more golden of the two stars. Watch for the bright planets Jupiter and Mars shining well off to the upper right
(or celestial west) of the moon.
