    ³ I started with a TRS-80 Model III. After being exposed to TRS-80 MODEL I and ³ Apple II through school.

    TI-99/4A. Had a lot of fun with that one. Later, we had an XT clone. I
    still have them both.

    Wow, our school system didn't invest in such things as mainframes. I wish
    I had some exposure to COBOL back then, or even in college. They were very particular about programmers needing to be a part of the engineering
    school, even though they had a Business CIS "concentration" degree.

    With COBOL being a "business" language, you'd think they'd make the
    connection. They eventually did, a couple of years after I graduated. I
    look back and think that was probably too late by then.

    In ~87 we got a mash of BASIC, something that they called pseudo code and a sniff of LOGO and PASCAL. All this was on Apple IIs, there was no real
    PASCAL for the II line aside from USCD with its out operating system, which made it less than useful for general purposes.

    Oh and I forgot, not that its programming, but a crash course in binary for some reason..

    Our HS had a "computer" class (cannot remember what it was called now) where
    we coded in Commodore BASIC on C64s. That was ten years before your experience.

    There was one other computer lab that had actual IBM or compatible
    machines. It was for a "business computer" class. I didn't take that one
    but was curious about it. I don't think they learned programming. I think they probably used the business tools available them (word processors, spreadsheets, etc.). A couple of years later I took a class in college
    that was similar. We received student versions of Wordperfect and I think Quatro spreadsheet. There was one other but I forget what.

    It was all DOS based then.
