I watched THE END OF OAK STREET on the Apples. It's basically JURASSIC PARK in
reverse and plays out in a suburban neighborhood. Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway star as parents who wake up one morning with their two children to find a two-mile radius section of their town has been transported back to
the
Cretaceous Period. (Later it's revealed that the same two-mile stretch of Cretaceous jungle was transported forward to 2026, so they basically just swapped places.) This all occurred due to some vaguely referenced solar anomaly.
Before the long the local wildlife starts discovering the smorgasbord of tasty
naked apes that has appeared in their midst and set about a feast. It was a
fun flick with a lot of the gore that was missing from JURASSIC PARK. The
score by Michael Giacchino was good enough that I went to the iTunes and
bought it afterward. The dinosaur effects were on the high end of the
scale.
They didn't have that "obvious CGI" look and feel. I did note that
there was a
noticeable lack of huge insects, which one would expect from such a
scenario.
My only complaint is that this movie went with the feathery version of
dinosaurs. Much like the heretics who claim Pluto isn't a planet, I will
not
countenance those who promote T-Rexes with feathers.
How about if only the smaller more coquettish females have feathers and the males are big and leathery and eat the followers of Neil Degrassehole
