Sam Worthington & Sofia Carson Cast in New Hulu TV Show

Sam Worthington and Sofia Carson are set to star in a new
Hulu spy thriller. The project will also mark their roles
as executive producers. The series will blend espionage
with a complicated relationship at the center of its
story.

According to Variety, The Parsifal Mosaic is Hulu's
adaptation of Robert Ludlum's spy fiction novel of the
same name. Worthington will star as CIA operative Michael
Havelock, with Carson playing Jenna Karas. The setup has
some similarities to Mr. & Mrs. Smith, particularly its
combination of espionage and a complicated relationship.

The official logline reads, "After years of dangerous
fieldwork for the CIA, Michael Havelock (Worthington) is
ready to get out of the game when he learns that his
partner Jenna Karas (Carson), secretly the love of his
life, has betrayed him and begins unraveling a powerful
conspiracy that reaches around the globe."


The long road from stalled film adaptation to Hulu series
The Parsifal Mosaic has had a long journey to the screen.
Universal Pictures announced a film adaptation in 2009,
with Ron Howard attached to direct. The project remained
in development for several years before Zhang Yimou
entered talks to take over directing duties. Those plans
did not lead to production, and the film version
ultimately failed to move ahead.

The story is now moving to Hulu as a series. Seth Gordon
is directing the series, while Wes Tooke serves as writer
and executive producer. Gordon is also among the executive
producers alongside Worthington, Carson, Ben Smith, and
Jeffrey Weiner. Smith and Weiner previously worked on the
earlier film adaptation.

Ludlum published The Parsifal Mosaic in 1982. The novel
follows Havelock after he learns that Jenna, a fellow CIA
operative and the woman he loves, has betrayed him. He
later sees her alive after believing she had died, which
leads him to uncover a larger espionage conspiracy.

Hulu has not announced a premiere date for The Parsifal
Mosaic yet. The platform will reveal more casting and
production details later.
