VICE TV is putting Caitlin Clark in the same documentary series as some
of the most hated figures in sports, including a convicted dogfighter,
a domestic abuser, and athletes whose careers have repeatedly generated headlines for reasons beyond what happens on the field.

The network has greenlit ?Everybody Hates,? an anthology docuseries
examining athletes who have become some of the most polarizing figures
in sports, Variety exclusively reported. The six-episode series will
focus on a different athlete in each episode. Clark will be featured
alongside Jake Paul, Aaron Rodgers, Michael Vick, Cristiano Ronaldo,
and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

?Rather than asking whether these athletes deserve the hate they
receive, ?Everybody Hates? asks a different question: How did they
become the people millions love, millions hate, and almost everyone has
an opinion about?? VICE said in its official description.

Clark?s episode is scheduled for November 10, putting the Indiana Fever
star in a lineup that includes athletes whose controversies have ranged
from contentious sports rivalries and public feuds to criminal conduct.

The series opens October 27 with Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer whose
rise from internet celebrity to professional fighter has made him one
of boxing?s most recognizable and divisive personalities.

Aaron Rodgers follows on November 3. Former teammate Tyler Fredrickson,
former Green Bay Packers executive Andrew Brandt, and others will
examine how Rodgers went from an NFL underdog to one of the league?s
most contentious personalities.

Then comes Clark. The former Iowa star became the biggest name in
women?s basketball before even entering the WNBA as the number one
overall pick in 2024. Her arrival generated enormous attention for the
league, while her on-court treatment and the surrounding racial and
cultural debate have repeatedly become subjects of national
controversy.

Clark was famously knocked to the floor by Chicago Sky player Chennedy
Carter during her rookie season in an away-from-the-ball collision that
the WNBA had to later upgrade from a common foul to a flagrant 1. More recently, Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas was suspended one game
after landing on Clark and driving her fist into Clark?s throat during
a loose-ball scramble. Eleven Republican members of Congress
subsequently wrote to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert asking about
player safety and whether attacks against Clark were racially
motivated. Clark herself called on the league to better protect
players.

VICE will follow Clark with Michael Vick on November 17. Vick?s episode
will examine the former NFL quarterback?s career and controversies
beyond football. Vick pleaded guilty in 2007 to a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge and served about 18 months in federal prison. The
episode will feature retired college football coach and player Robert
?Bud? Foster and animal-rescue activist Monica Caraffa.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who accepted a suspended prison sentence in a 2019
Spanish tax fraud case, will be featured on November 24. Los Angeles
Times journalist Kevin Baxter, former player Shaka Hislop, and others
will examine the soccer superstar?s career and polarizing public image.

The series will conclude December 1 with Floyd Mayweather Jr., the
undefeated boxer whose enormous wealth and boxing success have been accompanied by years of controversy outside the ring, including
pleading guilty to a reduced domestic battery charge in 2011. Former
boxer John ?Iceman? Scully and ESPN host Crystina Poncher are among
those appearing in the episode.

VICE TV President Pete Gaffney said the series is intended to examine
how athletes become cultural symbols. ?Today?s athletes are judged in
real time, often before the full story is understood,? Gaffney said. ??Everybody Hates? looks beyond the headlines to examine how these
figures became symbols of much larger cultural conversations.?

Aaron, I can see based on the comments I see online, but Clark? The
only people I see hating on Clark are the players from the other teams
when she embarrasses them on the court. She focuses on playing the
game more so than the most players like Angel Reese. Reese loves the
attention more so than her game play, unlike Clark.

I think the only reason Clark was included was to get the views, not
because of anything she did or any hate for her.

producers clearly included Clark because she's the hot topic now. Not
because she's done anything that qualifies her as a villain. As I said

intensional foul that could have permanently injured her. Somehow the
opponent didn't get criticized and the refs failed to notice the obvious flagrant foul and siuspend the player.

The documentary focuses on the athletes, but I'm count Paul as a
one-off. Instead it might have asked, Do the critics ever have a well-considered point to make?

You keep saying it but it's not what I see. None of the commentary and
videos I see online are critical of Clark. It's all in support of her
and against the refs that ignore what is done to her, the coaches that
refuse to use her talents and the players that abuse the rules and
blindness of the refs to attack (yeah, it's bad enough to call some of
those moves as "attacks" ) Clark. Especially that girl on Chicago's
team, Carrington (I think).

If it makes money (and I'm sure that's why they included Clark) is it
really to stupid to have been produced? That's what I fear. People
will end up watching and money gets made which leads to other people

Yes, it's happened multiple times.

The refs suck because they are part time WNBA, full-time college, and
for reasons I don't understand, are refusing to call flagrant fouls. The
rules aren't that different.
