I have watched no movies lately (I think "Mando & Baby Yoda" was among
the last films I've watched - now that work has started up again, I
won't be watching as many movies.)
But I have gotten through:
Furious (Hulu) - A while back I finished "season #1" of this Emmy
Rossum-led (though the key player in this was probably Irish actress
Lola Petticrew) series out. Overall, I guess I liked it, though I really question them trying to get a second season out of this one - I think
they would have been best off just leaving this series as a "one and done".
Silo (Apple TV) - Season 3.
ÿÿ I didn't appreciate that they did basically a (soft) reboot at the
start of season #3 in terms of Juliette's character, but by about
episode #3.3, they had moved passed that and gotten back into the show's usual rhythm. And I would say that season #3 actually has some payoffs
(the show's own main cast list spoils one of these, unfortunately) especially towards the end of the season.
ÿÿ Season #3 is actually bifurcated - almost half of the storyline is
taken up in the "present day" showing the origins of the silos (FTR, I
am pretty sure this is straight out of the book series the TV series is adapted from).
ÿÿ As more of the "foundation" for the world is revealed, I am starting
to have some concerns though - I'm starting to think the show's ultimate payoff may be underwhelming. If so, I am guessing that the book series
being adapted is ultimately to blame.
ÿÿ Nonetheless, I am looking forward to the fourth and final season of
this show (set to premiere in Summer 2027) to see how it all wraps up.
Lucky (Apple TV) - After finishing "Silo" I decided on a whim to just
roll right into this Anya Taylor-Joy led TV series. I got through the
first episode Saturday night (and episode #2 this morning).
ÿÿ The pilot is a pretty action-packed thriller - Taylor-Joy's Lucky is immediately betrayed, and then has to evade first the Feds (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, probably best-known for "The Mentalist", plays the main
Fed (amusingly her boss is played in episode #2 by Eric Lange (Sikowitz lives!!)), and then the criminals (Clifton Collins Jr., whose boss is
played by Annette Bening and who seems to enjoy playing this particular role) from her past who after her for "reasons". Anyway, the entire
first episode is Lucky trying to evade all of these while rushing
through a hotel-casino in Vegas.
ÿÿ Episode #2 slows down from this, but was still entertaining.
ÿÿ As this series is only 7 episodes (with apparently no chance of a
second season) I will definitely finish this series out now.
Other stuff:
soaps: GH - On GH, evol Drew's scheme to frame Nina for Jack Brennan's murder seems to be paying off, to the point where I wonder if Cynthia
Watros is taking a leave of absence from the show for a little while, a
la Genie Francis. And, mercifully, Chase seems to finally have had
enough of Brook Lynn's nonsense - I hope he dumps her ass.
ÿÿ DOOL - I am highly, highly amused that DOOL has apparently hired
Sydney Malakeh to play Sydney DiMera - Malakeh couldn't look *less* like
the daughter of Sami's and EJ's current actor portrayors if she tried!! (Malakeh is a decent actress, but she is a poor casting choice for this role!) Also, the show seems to be reintroducing Stefano DiMera-type supervillain malarkey (with a new character) that may be about the
quickest way to turn me off this show.
ÿÿ B&B - I can't figure out if they are trying to turn sweet Dylan into
a villainess, or are hedging their bets. (Next to the entitled, spoiled
brat that is Electra, Dylan still comes off as the far, far superior option!)
I also watched the U.S. Open tennis finals last weekend and though both games, especially the woman's final, were satisfying.

only just discovered the other day, by pure coincidence, that Apple has released a second season of "Dark Matter."
I loved the first season, so
I'm definitely going to be watching the second season.ÿ I may check this show out too once I'm done with Dark Matter.

Over the past week I've been making my way through a lot of the MCU
movies.ÿ I think the last time I mentioned watching Iron Man 1 and 2.
Since then I've worked through a bunch more wrapping up on Saturday with some of the best MCU movies including Winter Soldier, Civil War, and
both Guardians of the Galaxy movies.ÿ They were really knocking it out
the park in the old days of the MCU, not that I haven't been enjoying
the newer movies, but that original run was out of this world.ÿ Watching these movies over the past couple of weeks was completely unplanned. Avengers: Engame is getting a theatrical release next week, and I
decided to maybe revisit the first three "Avengers" movies first, then I added the "Iron Man" movies then I just kept adding movies and
rearranging things to make room for them all (well most of them).
I previously mentioned I've been watching the Ark and caught up on my backlog.
And on Friday I already mentioned watching the new "Resident Evil" movie which was really good.ÿ I discuss it in a bit more detail in the Friday thread.

I don't think I've heard of this before.ÿ At first I thought you were

The flashbacks are based on the second book. I think season #3 did use
some (small?) parts of the third book to flesh it out.
I would have been pissed off if it had been 100% flashback. That same
issue is one of the main reasons I don't plan to watch the third season
of "The Last of Us".

For my money the best ones are still the GotG flicks,

and the last 2-3 Avengers flicks (esp. "Infinity War").
