When was someone going to tell me that this TV show existed. I am deep
enough in that a baby-faced Jon Hamm plays a Leftist anti-war professor!
Jon Hamm played Wilson James, a recurring character in five episodes of
the CBS military drama series The Unit during Season 2 (2006?2007). He portrayed a civilian researcher who mostly shared scenes with characters
Tiffy and Mack Gerhardt, notably appearing in the episode Bait. This role
was a crucial final gig for Hamm as a working actor. He actually filmed
his arc on The Unit right after shooting the pilot for Mad Men, while
still waiting to find out if AMC would pick up the show.
What a wonderful easter egg and surprise. It's like finding popular actors doing debuts and early roles in Buffy and Supernatural as well as Friends, etc.
