• [Aus NEWS] "McLeod's Daughters" to return in 2027

From Your Name@3:633/10 to All on Fri Sep 18 16:28:13 2026

This article says a "reboot", but there's no detail as to whether it is
a real silly reboot or some sort of continuation with some of the
surviving original cast ... although the final spoken words in the
teaser trailer would seem to indicate a silly reboot with stupid
    ill-fitting changes. :-(

    Beloved Australian television series
McLeod's Daughters is set to return
    ------------------------------------
Saddle up Australia, we're heading back to Drovers Run.

    - 25 years after its first release, McLeod's Daughters is
    returning to our screens.
    - Nine confirmed the news at the 2027 Upfront.
    - There's currently no news on the confirmed cast, nor on
a release date. But read on for everything we do know!

Saddle up Australia, we're heading back to Drovers Run as
McLeod's Daughters is cantering back to our screens in 2027.

"A lot has happened since Australia last visited Drovers Run,
but what hasn't changed is the landscape and the uplifting
spirit of the strong, resilient women navigating life on the
land alongside the challenges of finding love and connection
    in the modern world."

Back in 2017, there were rumblings that the show was coming
back. The Nine Network confirmed that they were in
discussions with the show's creator Posie Graeme-Evans about
    a potential reboot.?

"We know how much everybody loves McLeod's Daughters; it's an
important part of our heritage, a spokesperson told The Daily
Telegraph at the time. "Nothing is commissioned, or set in
    stone."

Around the same time, Michala Banas tweeted an image of
herself and her McLeod's Daughters co-stars Simmone Jade
MacKinnon and Rachel Carpani with a teasing caption: "Watch
    this space..."

However, nothing came to fruition. Now, 25 years after the
original series aired, it's officially coming back.

In a more recent interview with Nine, Bridie Carter, who
played Tess McLeod on the series, called the reboot a
    "no-brainer"

"I still know how it could work," she told the publication.
"I just say, it's never too late until it's too late."

Along with the announcement, Nine released a teaser trailer
that shows six people on horseback corralling horses.?

"The place you remember, just never like this," says a
woman's voice as a drone shot reveals the series name.

Who is returning for the reboot of McLeod's Daughters?
Sadly, one of the main characters will not be returning.
Rachael Carpani passed away on December 7 2026, aged 45,
after a long battle with a chronic illness. She played Jodi
McLeod, the daughter of the former housekeeper Meg (who
later finds out her father is the family's patriarch, Jack
    McLeod).

Her character ended the series by returning with her husband
Matt to Drovers Run after being in witness protection. She
was pregnant and shared that there was "only one place"
where she wanted to raise her child. So perhaps, her child
will be one of the main characters in this rebooted series.?

Bridie has been sharing throwbacks to the series on her
social media as the show hit its 25th anniversary. In a case
of art inspiring life, Bridie and her husband, fashion
designer and fourth-generation farmer Michael Wilson, now
live on a farm in the Byron Bay hinterland in northern NSW
    with their two sons.

"When we're fixing fences, I still go, 'Oh my God, this is
so weird. I feel like I'm in a storyline!"' She told TV WEEK
    in an exclusive interview.?

In that same conversation, she also shared that she would be
interested in portraying Tess again one day.

"Tess will always be within me," she said. "I hope one day
she gets to come out again. We'll see. But she'll always be
a part of me, until the day I die."

The other main character of the series was Claire McLeod,
played by New Zealand actor Lisa Chappell. Now, Claire died
in the series in a serious accident. So, it's unlikely that
she would return. However, Lisa suggested how it could be
    done.

"As long as it was done in a way that doesn't diminish the
memory of the character, I don't think anyone wouldn't want
to see Claire as a ghost, sitting on the edge of Tess' bed,
giving her sage advice," Lisa told Woman's Day in 2023.

There are no details on who is in the cast of the reboot,
nor a premiere date. We will update as soon as we know!

While I loved the series, I dread what they would do to it to make it
    fit current society.

Leave it alone where it is and don't do another terrible "reboot".
