    After the death of his ex-wife, a filmmaker tries to reconnect with his daughters. Although the exquisitely crafted Norwegian drama SENTIMENTAL
    VALUE (dvd, ppv) was a Best Picture nominee, and defensibly so, I found
    its substance a bit rarefied for its longish runtime. Still, director
    Joachim Trier's (probably) personal masterpiece has to be recommended.

    I watched it all, the whole thing, all the way to the end, every bit of it.
    I never cared about those people and when it was over, I had the feeling I
    had successfully completed a homework assignment. It doesn?t really have to
    be recommended.

    Well, its lowest rating at MetaCritic is 60, with an 86 average == on
    balance, very high. Still, if you check out the lower reviews there,
    you may feel some may've wished they could say what you did.

    As for me "having" to recommend it, it's an important flick from an
    important director, and not so lengthy that I'd rather not have seen it.
    However, I am glad I arranged to watch it alone...
