From Ubiquitous@3:633/10 to All on Mon Apr 27 04:30:41 2026
    I watched:

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE SERIES:
"The Poison Pen". After reading a news story, the cousins and Jack
track an antique quill pen to a monastery famous for its "Oracle of
Death". In order to enter, all three have to disguise themselves as
    monks.

    FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE SERIES:
"Cupid's Quiver". Jack, Micki and Ryan search for a cursed statuette in
the houses of a local college. When they finally find it, it's in the
hands of a lonely misfit, Eddie Monroe, with an unrequited love for a
    popular girl.

    CHARLIE'S ANGELS:
"The Big Tap Out". A man steals $40,000 from a bank. The Townsend
Agency's fee is generally ten percent, but Bosley says $4,000 isn't
enough. Charlie says he'll do this one on friendship. They rig
horseraces and blackjack games to win the $40,000 back. Jill fakes
getting hit by a car and drops casino floor plans at his feet so he'll
    rip them off.

    HART TO HART:
"Night Horrors". At the haunted house recently purchased by the Harts'
'weird' friends Fred and Amanda, a dinner party turns into a deadly
    treasure hunt.

    FANTASY ISLAND
? "Fool for a Client". A brilliant yet insecure lawyer wishes to
experience the excitement of a big courtroom trial.

? "Double Your Pleasure". The winner of a raffle ticket for a weekend
on Fantasy Island is caught between two girls - twins no less.

    FAMILY GUY:
"Lower G.I. Joe". A colonoscopy reveals Peter has a rare collectible
toy action figure lodged in his intestine, but the reward for selling
it causes a rift between him and the guys.

I enjoyed this one, but the main plot seemed to run out of steam when
his friends wanted a portion of the auction money, and I remember when
Peter got a prostrate exam. I did chuckle at Stewie helping the
librarian with her Yelp profile, tho.

    AMERICAN DAD:
"Idol Threat". The school bully saves Steve's life at the carnival and
is celebrated as a local hero by everyone except Steve.

    FAMILY GUY:
"Pumpkin Spice Girls". Meg discovers the seasonal delight that is the
pumpkin spice latte, but when the limited time offering lapses, her and
Lois concoct an elaborate heist to steal the formula.

Steal what formula? Isn't it fairly easy to make and available all
    year?

Verily, in article <UBI20260426@dont-email.me>, did weberm@polaris.net
    deliver unto us this message:
    What did you watch?

I watched the latest Scrubs. It was forgettable, almost literally. The
only scene which made an impression was the original Janitor returning
to turn the new Janitor, his son, against JD. This show is decent, but
it's essentially like extra Scrubs reruns. If you'd like some extra
Scrubs episodes from S5-6, when it was no longer good but was still
    watchable, this can work.

I also watched the new American Dad, "The Treasure of Old Chinatown." It
was suprisingly good, shocking so for a show in its 20th season. In
this, Steve and Ba Ba (his grandfather) seek an ancient treasure buried nearby. Francine objects and tries to discourage Steve, but joins them
to help when she realizes Steve will be in danger.

This episode is one which seems like it was originally written as a
standalone story. There's a lightweight B story about Roger, but he's
seldom on screen, and neither are most of the others. This is a story
about a parent and child and grandchild, repurposed into an American Dad episode, and that's what makes it better than the average ep they're
griding out these days. Also, the politician guy is hilarious. He has
    some sharp suits!

My all-time favorite, "Gold Top Nuts," is another one like this. Most characters are never or barely shown, and those shown are doing
something completely outside their usual wheelhouse.

Maybe this is why I like animated shows. They can still be episodic, to
a degree which allows them to use entirely different scripts. Most live-
action shows are arc-based, which is engrossing at first but doesn't
allow for this sort of serendipity.

I only watched a movie, the WRECKING CREW. With Jason Momoa, David
Bautista, Morena Baccarin and Frankie Adams (Bobbie from THE EXPANSE.)
The story revolves a dysfunctional dad that gets killed in a hit and
run. That ends up bringing his two sons back together to (eventually)
work to find his killer. Which brings them into conflict with the
Yakuza in Hawaii along with other unsavory characters.

A bit of a violent movie that never quite made me feel it but still
    watchable due to the actors.

    What did you watch?

    On Sunday I watched:

The Cell (4K disc) 2000 movie directed by Tarsem Singh. It stars
Jennifer Lopez as a scientist/therapist who is approached by an FBI
agent (Vince Vaughn) to use her technology that allows her to enter the
mind of comatose people. Vaugn wants her to enter the mind of a psycho
serial killer played by Vincent D'Onofrio. But once inside his twisted
mind, if he kills her, she dies for real. At least that's what they
claim. I don't know how they could possibly know that's true. LOL This
is a visually stunning movie, but I started to lose interest towards the
    end.

The Fall (4K disc) 2006 movie directed by Tarsem Singh. Set in the
1920s, the movie stars Lee Pace as a stunt man recuperating in a
hospital after a terrible accident. Pace meets a little girl with a
broken arm and he tells her a story each night, but there's an ulterior
motive as to why he's telling this little girl a story. I won't spoil
the reason, but things get really dark towards the end. Another
visually stunning movie and a bit of a step up from The Cell, storywise.

Immortals (3D blu-ray) 2011 movie directed by Tarsem Singh. Set in the
time of Greek gods, the movie stars Henry Cavill as a super, man, who is trying to live his life in his village when his village is invaded by an
evil king (Mickey Rourke). Rourke is killing everyone in his path
searching for a magic bow and arrow that will allow him to unleash the
titans to wage war against the Greek gods (Luke Evans plays Zeus). This
is another visually stunning movie to look at, and in 3D it's even
better. This is probably Tarsem's best movie. And Mickey Rourke
twirling his evil mustache while chewing the scenery accounts for 99% of
    why it's the best.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBvF1VQvp4k

Gods of Egypt (4K disc) 2016 movie directed by Alex Proyas. The movie
stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as the Egyptian god "Air" who on the day he
is to be crowned king of Egypt, is betrayed by his uncle Set (Gerad
Butler). Nikolaj is forced to team up with a human thief (Brenton
Thwaites) to free Egypt from his evil uncle's rule. Chadwick Boseman
also costars as the Egyptian god Thoth. Boseman chews the scenery as if
he's the only actor in this movie who realizes it's not a good movie, so
he might as well have some fun with it.

Stay away from Hollywood. It's a dump and a war zone now. (There was a news story just last week about how the city now has a dedicated cleaning crew that has to hose off the hand and footprints of the movie stars in the cement outside the Chinese Theater each morning to clean away the urine feces deposited by the vagrants during the night. Progress!)

I recommend a hotel in one of the beach cities of the South Bay (Hermosa

Thank you! I don't understand why these streaming networks are so bad
at promoting their own series and movies. I often have to actively

You said it. There were layers of bad guys and the badest guy, uh, had a special set of skills plus Mark Wahlberg's Shooter, plus the ultimate

Nothing about Rene's story arc is being developed at all. It should have

I think Dean Winchester returns next episode.
