Jeezus, these women are stupid. No, you didn't 'opt in to the draft'. There hasn't been a draft since Vietnam. You had register with the government so they would have records in case of a future hypothetical draft.
The only thing that changed was that it used to be up to the individual to sign up when he turned 18. Now all 18 year-olds are automatically registered.
But there's still no draft and no actual plans to implement one. Although in this #MeToo era of female empowerment and equity, they absolutely should change the law and force females to register for the draft also.
Women benefit from all the rights and liberties this country bestows on them every bit as much as men and they should have the same responsibility to sacrifice for it as men do. I'm not suggesting putting women into combat as ground troops in some future war, but if we're at the point where the threat to America is so dire that they're forcing men out of their normal lives and sending them to war, then women should have to do their part as well. As we saw in WWII, there are plenty of administrative, logistical, and manufacturing
jobs here at home that need doing and women should be drafted to do them.
GOLDBERG: It's a draft! I can sorry, it's a draft! Because if you are

This level of stupid is actually caustic. The cut-off age is relatively young because older people physically can't do it. I know that at 57, my knees simply wouldn't be able to handle basic training. A drill sergeant could scream at me until his throat bled but that wouldn't make my knees capable of a 15-mile run with a 30-lb. ruck on my back. They'd give out pretty quick and no amount of yelling and threats would change it. And you can't put someone in
the stockade for being old.

How is the First Amendment an inadequate shield? Part of the civil right
to liberty that I enjoy here in America is that you cannot impose your culture upon me.
In any event, you and I have never seen eye-to-eye on this issue, for I
have always seen the danger of imposing religious value in civil law as
long as the motive is widely known but the language of the law itself
remains silent on religious motivation.
Christians have done this for centuries. Muslims, if they gain any
political power locally or in a state legislature, aren't doing anything different.
How the hell does the draft cure this? Americans have to actually
exercise their liberty against those who would take it away.

The problem with older men, as I noted in another post, is that a much higher
percentage of them can no longer physically do the job.
I've read that the main issue is adult conscience doesn't fully form
till age 25 or so and it's easier to train boys to become soldiers than
men over 25 for that reason.
That may be part of it, but I know that with my knee problems (and now a hip >that's starting to bother me, too) I would physically not be able to even >complete boot camp, let alone go on 20-mile infantry marches or scale walls or >other obstacles in combat. I simply can't do that sort of thing anymore.
If we were in a national emergency and there was a draft, I'd be more than >happy to serve in some capacity, it just couldn't be in a physically demanding >job for me anymore.
The boys drafted to serve in WWI or Viet Nam weren't responsible for
America's involvement, but older men were. Gee, people might take voting
more seriously if they could be drafted.
The answer to that is to make sure those older mens' kids go to the front >lines, not deferments or rear-echelon assignments.

Fact check: misinformation. There is no draft and none of them filled
out Selective Service cards.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Keep in mind the Iranian regime is the biggest
state sponsor o terrorism. Ten years from now, 20 years from now, they
may try to strike the homeland, they may try to strike troops in the
region. This doesn't go away just because you sign a piece of paper.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: No, nothing goes away. And hat's why they're planning
on a draft! They're planning on a draft! And you're bitching and
moaning that there are women who are part of the - the Army, Navy, all
the - and you're getting rid of people and talking about who shouldn't
be -- what the hell are you people doing?!
FARAH GRIFFIN: What it is is they're changing that you no longer - you >>> used to have to opt into the draft, now it makes it automatic.
Jeezus, these women are stupid. No, you didn't 'opt in to the draft'. There >>hasn't been a draft since Vietnam. You had register with the government so >>they would have records in case of a future hypothetical draft.
Speaking of stupid, the one I think claims to be a lawyer claims that the >amount of money spent on the Iran War is more money than this country has >spent since World War II.

Palantir Releases Nightmare 'Manifesto' That Calls For Military Draft and >>>A.I. Arms
......
Bullet points from the plan included ending the all-volunteer military >>>and instituting universal military service in the United States, >>>committing the nation to an A.I. arms race, and suggesting that the
west needs to weaponize against multiculturalism.
Well, I can certainly get behind that final point.
How is the First Amendment an inadequate shield? Part of the civil right
to liberty that I enjoy here in America is that you cannot impose your >culture upon me.
In any event, you and I have never seen eye-to-eye on this issue, for I
have always seen the danger of imposing religious value in civil law as
long as the motive is widely known but the language of the law itself
remains silent on religious motivation.
Christians have done this for centuries. Muslims, if they gain any
political power locally or in a state legislature, aren't doing anything >different.
How the hell does the draft cure this? Americans have to actually
exercise their liberty against those who would take it away.
