Doctor Who: What Went Wrong?
https://youtu.be/iT5znf8LxMU?si=WQDrwKEo_YNUlthl
I just watched this. It didn't say much that was new. It was more of a summary, ending with the conclusion that DW and other longstanding
franchises can't be fixed at this point.
That's probably true. We just all have to decide what's in our personal canons.
What did you watch?
I began The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, the well-
regarded Soviet miniseries. I watched "The Acquaintance," and I quickly
saw why it's so well regarded. Holmes, Watson, and Mrs. Hudson are all
hitting it out of the park. One thing I especially appreciated is that
Watson is not a clown. Far too many takes make him an idiot to contrast
with Holmes' genius, which is a bit cheap IMO and also doesn't respect
the original material. This Watson is a capable man whom Holmes and
others respect.
It's billed as a miniseries, but each episode is long enough to count as
a short movie. The whole series is available on YouTube, free, with
subtitles.
I also watched a little more Bored to Death. Ray, the hero's BFF, is a
little cartoony and IMO detracts from the show. If they dialed him down
from 11 to maybe 8, it would seem more balanced.
What did everyone else watch?
