PICARDO: "They can genetically modify the Jem'Hadar, they can change them."

Who would frakking do that? The Jem'Hadar were a scourge on the galaxy, a >threat to all sentient life except the Changelings. Who would say to >themselves, "Let's genetically modify them so they can reproduce and be even >*more* of a threat"?

    I haven't seen Starfleet Academy as I don't have Paramount+...
and that series alone wouldn't be enough to tempt me to
    subscribe.

I think I'll cancel Paramount Plus soon. There are only so
many times I can watch Lower Decks, and I can get along
without the few other things I watch there.

There were rumours that the BBC were in talks with Paramount
to bring "Doctor Who" to Paramount+... whether that would be
enough to keep your subscription going, or not, is another
    matter.

Of course, it might also depend on if the rumours are true...

You can get a free one week trial to binge watch that (or any other)
show, then cancel it before they start charging you. That's what many
    people do. :-)

Paramount+ also does a 50% discount for students, if you know any who
can sign-up. There's also a 50% discount for military members
(presumably includes ex-military) which is "for life".

Of course, the first three episodes are already available on the
naughty web, with the rest to follow.

I got offered a free Paramount+ trail from Sky last year, six
months I think, but there was nothing on there I wanted to watch
so I never bothered with it. Apart from the Star Trek stuff,
(most of which I have on DVD/Blu-ray anyway), it seemed to be
Yellowstone and its spin-offs that they were promoting as their
    main attraction.

I might see what one episode is like alright, but the general
consensus seems to be that I could be wasting my time...

The BBC making shows for YouTube is an interesting direction for

If they did, expect plenty of adverts!

I wonder how this sort of thing is going to impact those of us who pay a monthly fee specifically to be ad-free on YouTube. Will a new season of DOCTOR WHO suddenly become an "exception" to our ad-free plan, where we'll have to
sit through all the ads even though we're paying to be ad-free?

The BBC haven't officially said that "Doctor Who" will be part
of their recently announced streaming deal with YouTube... but
should it happen, I couldn't see the BBC giving new episodes of
"Doctor Who" away for free without there being some way of them
getting revenue from it. That's the whole point of the deal at
the end of the day, to make money for the BBC.

Maybe Google would pay the BBC based on the amount of their
YouTube Premium subscribers that watched the episodes for x
amount of time, without the need for ads for those people... and
run adverts at the beginning of episodes like some other
streaming services do for people on the free tier.

Either way, it's good to see the BBC try and do something
    different...

Certainly not on regular free-for-all YouTube, but on the pay-for
YouTube Premium which has already had quite a few "original" shows.
YouTube Premium was created to be a proper TV creation and streaming
service, alongside places like Netflix, BritBox, Acorn, etc. <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_YouTube_Premium_original_programming>
