Iconic '70s NBC TV Show Gets Reboot Order
    -----------------------------------------
NBC plans to revisit one of its iconic 1970s series with a
reported new reboot now in development. The network has
ordered a pilot for the project, signaling a possible
return of the classic TV detective to primetime.

If a Matlock reboot can be a big hit with an older-than-middle-aged
woman in the lead this doesn't seem nearly as unfeasible.

It's not a reboot. In fact, the first episode referenced the Andy
Grifith tv series. You got it very wrong.

It wouldn't be the first time.

Want some cheese with that crow smart guy?....

Despite what many people like to claim (including the CBS marketing officer!), it *is* actually a reboot (gender-swapped, as usual these
days), but the makers were simply making an "in-joke" about the
original show, as has happened in other shows.

"The 2024 version of Matlock is a reboot of the original
1986 television series of the same name, which starred
Andy Griffith. This iteration, notably, flipped the
gender of the lead role, swapping out Griffith's Ben
    Matlock for Bates' Madeline Matlock."

"The show was developed by Jennie Snyder Urman, and draws
from the original Matlock TV series which starred Andy
Griffith, but with a gender flipped lead character
played by Kathy Bates and a vastly different premise
    overall."

If it wasn't a reboot, then why would they bother using the same name -
they could have called it anything, which it has in common to all
idiotic reboots that are unreconisable as having anything to do with
the original they are "based on".

I'll repeat myself for the clue impaired. It was a plot point early on. "Matlock" was created so Madeline Kingston (Kathy Bates) could infiltrate
that law firm during first season, literally named for the Andy Griffith character. It's a line of dialogue. The new show has a different setup
and structure and it's not episodic. It references the original show but
it is not a reboot of the original show. There was no story reason to
pay the licensing fee to Dean Hargrove other than he makes money for no
    work whatsoever.

I know this having watched a few early episodes. I doubt for later
seasons, the infiltration is still necessary, but I don't know as I've
    stopped watching.

The opinion Your Name quoted was wrong. You and the opinion writer
    should get a room.

Despite what many people like to claim . . .

show. I doubt you can even get one of these items right, let alone all
three. But by all means go ahead and create something that won't last
a single season and will be forgotten before that season is over.
That's if the show get on air.

I'll be skipping this - they can't capture lightning twice.

I'm wondering how bad "Buffy: New Sunnydale" will be. The show has one original actor in its favor but without Whedon it won't have the same
    charm as the original.

I have erery confidence Gretchen Corbett can still fit in that bikini.
Also, The Bionic Woman is still around.

I can't think of anyone else alive.

By all means, see if you can pull off James Garner's man's man, totally charming act, and natural comedic reactions. I'm sure your career will survive the comparison.

Back in October, the girlfriend and I had a meal at the Paradise Beach Cafe in Paradise Cove in Malibu, which is where Rockford's trailer was parked.

    Then and now: https://ibb.co/pB4ZX0DP

It was also where the cover for the The Beach Boys' "Surfin' Safari" album was shot

And Paradise Cove can currently be seen in Amazon's Bosch-verse show BALLARD. It's where the lead character lives in one of the world's most expensive
mobile homes. Mobile homes in the park next to the Cafe routinely go for more than $1 million.

Thanks for the memories. Did you wear a checked coat, open collar shirt
with no tie to dinner? To be true to Rockford, you should have bought
her a taco from the cart.
