There's a theory that this is another Dark Ages, because once again
we're exhaustively mining the past instead of creating anything
ourselves. I don't know if it will last as long. We're mining the
culture of mere decades ago, and I'm not sure there's enough of it to
keep us going as a society of sequels and reboots.

    What did everyone else watch?

Over the weekend I watched both seasons of the anime SOLO LEVELING.

    Where is it airing?

I downloaded it in search of another anime that had a similar concept,
but you can watch it here on Crunchyroll. https://www.youtube.com/show/SCHSJcfyXqldHaJWgcrMUY5w?season=1&sbp=CgEx

The anime I was looking but didn't find had a similar concept of a guy
who was very low level. He worked as a porter for a high level team
and somehow got stuck in the dungeon and somehow managed to survive
constantly leveling up until he finally met back up with his team, but pretended to still be the same low level porter. Never did find it in
    either anime or manga/manwha form.

For fans of Anime, "All You Need is Kill" is getting a theatrical
release this week. I've never seen the movie before, but I plan to see
it this weekend. It's from the same source material as the 2014 Tom
    Cruise movie, "Edge of Tomorrow."

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MzSWdkqqCc

So this movie appears to be based on the light novel, while EDGE OF
TOMORROW more closely held to the manga. So there will be differences
which is pretty clear if you watch the trailer.

    https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2NtcD7V-vgY
This short covers the basics of the manga and you can clearly see how
it relate to the Cruise/Blunt movie.

I also got in the first episode of BERLIN STATION,

I think this might have been on might watch list at some point, then I >probably forgot it existed.

Yeah, that happens. I had this recorded but never got around to
watching it. Just happened to decide to watch it this weekend when
looking for something new to watch.

    which appears to
open with the death of the main character but then goes back in time
to show how we got there. The premise is that someone is leaking CIA
secrets to a reporter in Berlin. A CIA analyst figures out something
about the leaker which ends up having him sent to Berlin to track down
    the source of the leak.

    What did you watch?

    I watched:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (blu-ray) 2016 movie set in the >"Harry Potter" universe and a prequel to those films. First up, Eddie >Redmayne stars as "Newt Scamander" a wizard and author of one of the
text books the kids will rely on later in the series. He travels to
America in 1926 and gets caught up plot that's too complicated to try
and summarize. But I like the movie. Technically, I like all the
movies in the franchise, but this is one of the better ones.

I watched the first movie but I'm not sure I ever got around to
watching the second one. Still on my list.

The Copenhagen Test (Peacock) - "Copenhagen" - New spy series starring
Simu Liu as a spy who has his head hacked allowing for an unknown enemy
to see and hear everything he does. It took me a while to work my way >through the first episode, but now that I'm done with episode one, I
might make my way through the rest a bit faster.

Yeah, I watched the first few episodes and enjoyed it.

I was surprised as well, but having watched Jim And Them for awhile, I
am not surprised. Be sure to watch their coverage of his "Corey's Angels"
    days. Yikes!

I watched naught but some Bob's Burgers reruns. I enjoyed them, but I

I just watched that. He seems to tie the mining in with wokeness, and
I'm not sure that's so. There may be common factors, though.

I've come to believe that we should rewind the world by at least a few
decades and try again. We didn't do it right.

Sounds like when you search for one movie on Netflix, but they don't
have it so they recommend something else that's similar. That also
happens when I'm searching for movies on Target's website. They don't
have the movie I want, so they just show me similar movies. That gets *really* annoying!

Thanks. I didn't realize there were two different sources. I just
assumed the Cruise movie mostly ignored the source material and this

There are 3 Fantastic Beast movies. The thing I like about the
Fantastic Beasts movies, even over the Potter films, is the wizards in Fantastic Beasts are all fully trained adults who *know* how to use
magic. There's a fight scene in the first movie where two wizards are fighting with wants and one then uses their powers to simultaneously
throw a car at someone. You won't see those types of fights in the
Potter movies because the kids aren't anywhere near close to that level
of magic. Also, the Fantastic Beast movies have much more adult drama
and violence. It really is just Harry Potter for a more adult audience.
    :-)

    Gawd, I hate that.

Amazon Prime is even worse. They'll claim to have things which in fact
only their "partners" have. I'm considering ditching streaming and going
    back to cable.
