• What Did You Watch? 2025-10-19 (Sunday)

From Ubiquitous@3:633/10 to All on Mon Oct 20 04:30:41 2025
On the day of the National Democrat Temper Tanrum, I watched:

    HELLRAISER:
Tale of a 1980's bitch who conspired with her husband's brother's
corpse to restore himself to life. I did not realize just how little we
saw of the Cenobites in ths one, basically, the last quarter of the
    movie.

    HELLRAISER 2:
    A lame and unneeded sequel.

    KRAPOPOLIS:
"Basket Baby". A baby arrives in a basket; Deliria encroaches on
Apollo's turf; Tyrannis throws a potluck.

Yeah, there are a lot of "basket babies" in myth, aren't there?

    What did you watch?

    What did you watch?

    Hey, thanks for asking!

So the fire stick was broken overnight, which turns out to have been some
    sort of Amazon outage.

I squeaked a few things through including

Superman of tomorrow on HBO Max

Animated fare. The voice of Lois Lane is Alexandra Hi Ho Daddario. The animated version had her eyes but not her breasts.

This was not good. Much of the animation was original to the project, but
all the standard stuff people did was extremely anime, just cookie cutter
stuff dropped in by people who can?t draw. The voice acting was mediocre; Zachary Quinto as Lex Luther actually managed to mispronounce Luther core.
Most of the plot didn?t make sense. Lobo shows up and causes trouble, but
then just leaves having accomplished nothing. Same notation for Martian Manhunter. The main nuisance is the parasite who turns out in this telling
to be a rip off of the black goo venom Spider-Man suit who turns into a
double low rent Godzilla and not even a good Godzilla but the iguana
Godzilla from that horrible Matthew Broderick version with more than a hint
of the alien Xeno morph to his design. And I guess even an innocent victim
who dies effectively murdered by Superman, so he doesn?t even save the day.
And one assumes the director had some sort of gay agenda since he went out
of his way to put in naked men?s butts. It reminded me of what an
interviewer asked the animation team from the road to El Dorado why they
were putting in naked men?s butts and they replied ?because (DreamWorks)
won?t let us put in naked women?s butts.?

I then watched a completely different creative team doing a Batman film The Doom That Came to Gotham. Set in the 1920s with everybody somewhat recast
and actual magic and lots and lots of death as the bad guys managed to resurrect Cthulhu. This is one to watch with some sort of commentary or
cheat sheet to see who all the characters actually are supposed to be.

So it was a problem on Amazon's end, was it?

I was wondering what the hell was going on. Inspired by Your Name's news post yesterday about Prime canceling the Australian version of THE OFFICE, I went
on the app to see if it could be watched here (it can't, FYI) so I could see
if it was any good. The app took forever to load and when it did, they
standard panoply of available shows and movies was there, but my entire "continue watching" lineup had disappeared and when I went to search for THE OFFICE, I found that the search function was non-functional. It would bring up anything. I thought maybe if I logged off and logged back on, the problem
might go away but when I clicked on the "my account" icon, the entire app just froze with a twirling circle and I had to physically pull the plug on my Apple TV and let it reboot just to get out of the damn thing.

This morning the Amazon app seems to be functioning normally again.

I used to hate the Burger King whoppers until I realized it was the mayo they slather on them by default.

Who picks mayo as a default condiment for a burger? Ketchup, yes. Even
    mustard. But mayo?

Anyway, whenever I'm on a road trip and get hungry and Burger King is the
quick and available stop, I make sure and tell them to hold the mayo and the burgers are actually pretty good now.

I know people put mayo on the buns before toasting them but not on the
burger as a condiment. Unless they are putting on that thousand island
    dressing which includes mayo.

Anyway, whenever I'm on a road trip and get hungry and Burger King is the >quick and available stop, I make sure and tell them to hold the mayo and the >burgers are actually pretty good now.

I learned my lesson after getting immediately sick twice after eating
at BK to never eat there again. I'll go with any other fast food place
for a burger but not BK.

The Jack O?Lantern whopper is a little bit different. A bright orange bun
with black seeds. Single meat patty, American cheese, crispy bacon, tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles, ketchup, and, yes, mayo.
You can remove any of those and add
    Swiss cheese
    Sliced jalape¤os
    Onion rings
    Mustard (which I added.)
    BBQ sauce

Plus, it was BOGO and the second one reheated very well the next day.

The PFY upgrading one of the major systems in an AWS data center in
