A nationwide movement of flying the St George flag and the Union Jack called "Operation Raise the Colours" has gone viral across Britain. People are flying
them from their homes and the utility poles on their streets and even painting
the flags in the centers of roundabouts and it's driving the various levels of
government nuts.

Two councils-- Birmingham and Tower Flats-- have banned the British flags from
street poles, saying they're a health-and-safety distraction for drivers and that the weight of the flags could damage the poles. Except these same councils can't explain why-- if that's the case-- they allowed every street pole in their districts to be festooned with Palestinian flags mere weeks ago.
(They only removed them when they were forced to after a complaint to the UK Human Rights Commission was upheld on the grounds it was intimidating the local Jewish population.)
Are Palestinian flags weightless? Are they invisible to drivers? The council officials won't say. Strange, that.

about migrants and flags (among other things). I've heard commentator
after commentator express concern that tempers are on a knife's edge and that they fear this will erupt into major open violence. I certainly
can't blame the native Brits for this. I only hope that the government
will FINALLY wake up to it and change course rather than continuing to pander to the foreign-born radicals and their native enablers. That way, violence may yet be precluded or at least minimized.
