• What happens when you fire a gun underwater?

From Rhino@3:633/280.2 to All on Tue Aug 19 12:54:48 2025
I'm sure some of us have wondered about the results of firing a gun underwater. After all, we occasionally see action scenes where the good
guy dives off a boat to escape the bad guys and the bad guys pull out
their guns and try to shoot the good guy. We see the scriptwriter's
version of what he thinks happens but what REALLY happens?

This episode of Kentucky Ballistics looks at what happens when a variety
of guns are fired underwater, ranging from handguns of different
calibres, through shotguns and rifles. Be ready for some surprises,
including some ruined guns, but probably not the ones you might expect.

Seems like I remember from a recent Jaws doc they shot marbles
underwater to make it look like bullets.

At the least the sharks get a nice collection of cat's eyes, crystals
    and steelies.
