June Foray, who almost made it to age 100, was the all-time great female
voice actresses, creating voices for as many characters as Mel Blanc
did. On The Bullwinkle Show, she played Rocky and Natasha and numerous
one-off female characters.
How she met Jay Ward

She doesn't drink at lunch but Ward talked her into imbibing just enough alchohol to consider that a cartoon about a moose and squirrel would
work. Now, I knew Bill Scott, one of the writers, had no acting
experience but I had no idea that Ward didn't consider anyone else.
Scott would act out the lines for Ward in the voice he'd eventually use
for Bullwinkle.
Now, this I knew but it bears repeating because movies get it so very
wrong.

Ward would book the recording studio for just a few hours at a time. The
whole cast would be in the studio, together. The show was recorded radio
style, not every actor independently as if they're looping dialogue.
That way, the actors get to play off each other, like they're, you know,
acting together in a play.
It's so sad that movies refuse to record the voice cast like this.
