Hey, thanks for asking!
THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS on The Plex
Howard Keel plays one of the few sighted people in a world of the blind threatened by poison spitting mobile carnivorous plants. It held up a lot better than I thought it would.
They changed it a lot from the book which may have been for the better because there aren’t really many answers either way. A mysterious meteor shower leaves the world blind. Conspiracy theorists think it was some sort
of Russian weapon that went wrong and got everybody.
In the book, Triffids are known to the world and kept in pens for as I
recall their oil. And their poison sacks are kept clipped. With the world gone blind there’s nothing to keep them from escaping and wackiness ensuing. In the movie, they just appear out of nowhere after the meteor shower. It’s hard to imagine these two events as being accidental and unconnected. But there are no answers to be had just efforts to survive.
Meanwhile, Janette Scott (yes, from Rocky Horror Picture Show) and her real life husband who starred in together in CRACK IN THE WORLD, are trapped in
a lighthouse and besieged by the Triffids. At the end, he turns the fire
hose on them because he’s run out of things to throw, and it turns out that seawater disintegrates them. Well, that was an easy fix!

"Baywatch" is on The Tubi! (And a bunch of other places, I'm sure...)
Finished grading the final for the first of my two sections, and then
did a little bit of finish up work on the lab class... With that, I got through:
soaps: Y&R - Mon's ep. Billy tells Filis[sic!] his Revenge! plot against Victor; Filis balks at getting involved because of her kids - I wasn't
sure if she agreed to participate or not. Sharon gets hypnotized by
Traci's boyfriend, and remembers that she didn't run Filis off the road.
Ian Ward eavesdrops on a conversation between Claire and Mariah & Tessa, while Aunt Jordan remembers back to when Ian Ward reeled her in on his Revenge! plot.
ÿÿ GH - Tue's ep. Bitch Carly wants Revenge!! on Drew (and Willow), but Jason tries to talk her down from that. Willow is working some public charity thing for Jordan, and of course Drew stops by to see her,
witnessed by both a visibly displeased Jordan, and by Felicia. Nina,
with Ava present, discusses Willow's upcoming potential divorce and
custody case with lawyer Martin Gray. Curtis and Michael implement their plan to eject Drew from Aurora co., but Curtis gets it in writing from Michael up front. Despondent Josslyn discusses her grief with Trina, who understands the situation intimately because of Spencer's death.
ÿÿ DOOL - Tue's ep. Mostly stuff about Cat and her family, or Chad with Jack and Jennifer, and I really don't care much. NuGabi is already
starting to work on seducing JJ - this girl's libido won't quit!!
Broken Innocence (Tubi) - This 2024 effort is one of those flicks that
gets you to wonder - if this film had had a budget, a better script, and better actors and better direction, would it have been a "good film"?

Ah, but it has Jordana Brewster and Famke Janssen in it.

It was a great ending to a good season. They had a good cast and they
kept it close till the end. Well, not the very end as the vote was a
bit of a land slide. LOL. Other than the one person who clearly only
voted for the person they liked the most and not on game play (or as
some suggested they voted clearly on the gender of the winner.)
As for me.. I watched the SURVIVOR finale and finished off the SECRET
LEVEL episodes. Great little series with pretty good stories in a
short show. Some wouldn't work if the episode were any longer but as
was it was good enough. Looking at you, Spelunky.
Ah, I also watched the latest episode of FBI MOST WANTED which had the
team going after the dumbest group of bad cops I've seen. Cops that
decided the best way to stop crime was to kill off the bad guys as did
David Crosby when facing off against Dirty Harry. Only they decide to
double down once the FBI shows up and prove how tough they are by
trying to run the FBI out of town. It does not go well for them.

I’m not so sure about that. I love Batman 1966 but it’s full of cheap shots
that you would think would benefit from a reshoot. But I’ve had discussions with people and we pretty much agree that if you made Batman 1966 into it technically better movie, it would probably not be as much fun to watch.

I actually would settle for the "Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding" sequel
movie, which I have never seen, but it's not available anywhere, and I
don't think they show it on the "Baywatch" FAST channel.
(I also don't think I have ever seen the pilot movie, "Baywatch: Panic

I think that question applies to just about every bad movie, and the
answer is yes.
I’m not so sure about that. I love Batman 1966 but it’s full of cheap shots
that you would think would benefit from a reshoot. But I’ve had discussions
with people and we pretty much agree that if you made Batman 1966 into it
technically better movie, it would probably not be as much fun to watch.
But don't forget, "better script." I'm thinking Plan 9 Outer Space
redone as "Ed Wood" or "The Room" redone as "The Disaster Artist." Two examples of bad movies that mocked because they were so bad, yet given a
new *everything* it becomes entertaining. Not a mock it level, but a
good actors with a good script level.
Then there are the straight remakes like "Little Shop of Horrors"or
"The Thing." Not that the originals were necessarily bad movies, but

I watched that since I’ve been in the hospital.

I re-watched it tonight. There’s less to be fixed than I would have thought. The main thing is, I would like them to use New York for all the shots of the city. It’s kind of embarrassing when they keep cutting back-and-forth from stock footage of New York footage of LA which hardly

I think I've only watched the 1951 version all the way through once,
maybe twice. It's interesting as compared to the far superior John
Carpenter version. But other than as a curiosity I have no real use for
it. ;-)
I don't think I could even force myself to watch it if I wasn't going to watch the remake next.
"Creature" since "Creature" explicitly references it. In fact a couple
of years ago, I think I did just that. I watched the 1951 version, the remake and "Creature" back to back. And this is not a recommendation
for "Creature." It is a horrible movie! Best avoided.

This was long before the most recent remake. Somewhat interesting, and
you wouldn't pick up on this if you haven't watched the 1937 version,
but in the original version they were actors, then in 54 with Judy
Garland and every version since, they've hired singers.
Even though I didn't like the original movie(s) I kept watching them
because I felt there was definitely a good concept in there. They just needed the right script, cast, director, etc. and eventually they made a version that I did like. And for that, I'm glad I kept watching the remakes.
Or you can do it in reverse. Think of all the great movies that had bad >>> remakes. I think the criteria still applies regardless as to which

People keep complaining about remakes of great movies. They’re right, they >> should be remaking movies that crashed and burned where there’s room for >> improvement.
Yes, I *almost* said that. I think it was a quote from Roger Ebert
about remaking the bad movies instead of the good ones. But I'm all for remaking the good ones too! I know it's been in the works for forever,
but just last month they gave a new announcement about the "Forbidden Planet" planet. People are going apoplectic
But I really *liked* the original, and I would very much like to see
where that story goes next with either a *good* remake or a *good*
sequel. As long as the movie is entertaining, I don't care if it's a
remake or a sequel.

This guys complains they are wearing masks while committing crimes?
They're criminals. Of course they are wearing masks! LOL
And the navy didn't sale a boat to The Penguin. They sold a surplus
boat to a Mr. Guin. Who could have possibly known Mr. Guin would be up
to no good?
Regarding Batman letting Penguin into the cave, maybe I'm misremembering
it, but didn't Batman always see through the disguise and *know* it was really Penguin?
And is this guy really complaining that there's kissing in the movie?
Who is this guy?!?
Maybe I'll give him the porpoise scene. That was a bit farfetched.
But don't forget, "better script." I'm thinking Plan 9 Outer Space
redone as "Ed Wood" or "The Room" redone as "The Disaster Artist." Two >>>>> examples of bad movies that mocked because they were so bad, yet given a >>>>> new *everything* it becomes entertaining. Not a mock it level, but a >>>>> good actors with a good script level.

Since 2011, it's been 2011 then 1982. I've never owned the 1951 version
in any format so watching it has never been a consideration. Prior to
that I probably just treated it as a standalone movie. I don't recall
ever really pairing it with anything.
I do recall many years ago I had step brother who never saw it before so
I showed it to him and it was like a real life reaction video as he
oohed and awed in amazement of the movie.

Here’s a review of the 1966 movie although he gets a lot of stuff wrong >>>
https://www.cbr.com/things-never-made-sense-about-1966-batman-movie/
This guys complains they are wearing masks while committing crimes?
They're criminals. Of course they are wearing masks! LOL
Yes! And Catwoman had apparently never been unmasked at this point, which kept them from recognizing her as Miss Kitka!
Yeah, that’s a stupid complaint. Especially since two of them don’t wear masks and Miss Kitka wears a lot more mask than he claims. So he’s really only talking about the Riddler. And I bet if you tried to get somebody to identify a villain in court. His lawyer would make a big deal out of the
fact that he was masked so how can you be sure?
And the navy didn't sale a boat to The Penguin. They sold a surplus
boat to a Mr. Guin. Who could have possibly known Mr. Guin would be up
to no good?
You have to wonder how much money the penguin had that he’s buying a submarine and completely refitting it in order to commit another crime!
Regarding Batman letting Penguin into the cave, maybe I'm misremembering
it, but didn't Batman always see through the disguise and *know* it was
really Penguin?
Yeah, Batman and Robin agreed it was obviously the penguin when they first met him on the docks.
And is this guy really complaining that there's kissing in the movie?
Who is this guy?!?
That was weird.
I will give him that the bat boat just sitting there unguarded in the
middle of nowhere is a bit odd.
But he’s wrong about the bat cycle. They don’t just leave it there in the bushes. It was obviously planted for them to use, when they faked the breakdown of the Batmobile.
Maybe I'll give him the porpoise scene. That was a bit farfetched.
Yeah. Maybe less so in 1966 when we were still watchingFlipper.
But don't forget, "better script." I'm thinking Plan 9 Outer Space >>>>>> redone as "Ed Wood" or "The Room" redone as "The Disaster Artist." Two >>>>>> examples of bad movies that mocked because they were so bad, yet given a >>>>>> new *everything* it becomes entertaining. I think I've only watched the 1951 version all the way through once,
maybe twice. It's interesting as compared to the far superior John
Carpenter version. But other than as a curiosity I have no real use for >>>> it. ;-)
I don't think I could even force myself to watch it if I wasn't going to >>>> watch the remake next.
Do you ever watch 1951, then 1982, then 2011?
Or possibly 1951, 2011, 1982?
Since 2011, it's been 2011 then 1982. I've never owned the 1951 version
in any format so watching it has never been a consideration. Prior to
that I probably just treated it as a standalone movie. I don't recall
ever really pairing it with anything.
I do recall many years ago I had step brother who never saw it before so
I showed it to him and it was like a real life reaction video as he
oohed and awed in amazement of the movie.
You mean 1951? Or 1982?
The Thing Facebook group I’m in, most people absolutely hate 2011 and complain about how bad the CGI effects look. I don’t get what they’re seeing.

I keep telling you that What Price Hollywood? (1932) starring Constance Bennett and Lowell Sherman is the original, that A Star Is Born (1937) starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March was an unlicensed ripoff by
another studio. I liked both '30s movies because the two actresses are
just gorgeous.
Note that Judy Garland's band leader had been a female character in the
two earlier versions.

Uh, Forbidden Planet was not original. It was an adaptation of The
Tempest in an off world futuristic setting.
There weren't too many Star Trek scripts that weren't adapted from Shakespeare or the Bible or a story from the ancient Greeks. Since the
Greeks invented theater, what's original?

If TCM didn't show it, then it doesn't exist in this dojo.
