That said, OBSF with epic female characters, I'm currently
on the penultimate volume of Jack Campbell's generation ship
stories (three series, "Empress of the Endless Sea", "Pillars
of Reality" and "Legacy of Dragons"). They're fun reads.
All three series take place centuries after the generation
ship arrived at a habitable world, which was then partially
teraformed. The crew (Mechanics) of the generation ship (most of the passengers were shipped in cold-sleep) maintain iron control
on technology, keeping the world in the early steam and sail age,
with some unexplained source of magic available to a subset
of the settlers called Mages.
The first series starts several hundred years after
arrival with the lead character prophesized to be
the ancestor of a woman who will overthrow both the
Mechanics and Mages who control the populated parts
of the world (3 books).
The second series begins a couple hundred years later
when a great-great-to-the-nth granddaughter fulfilled
the prophecy (6 books) with many adventures along the
way, culminating in new political alignments worldwide
and communication with Urth (Earth).
The third series follows the daughter of the
protagonist of the second series as a new ship
from Urth arrives (with the Urth ship leader's behavior
reminding one of Musk and the other techno-moneygrabbers).
