?It Is Going to Be a Very Difficult Winter if the Global Energy Crisis
    Is Not Resolved Soon?

    https://economiccollapse.report/it-is-going-to-be-a-very-difficult-winter-if-the-global-energy-crisis-is-not-resolved-soon/

?(The Economic Collapse Blog)?Unless some sort of a miracle happens, the
world is facing a severe energy supply crunch in the months ahead. Since
the war with Iran began, we have been able to function normally because
we had huge inventory buffers that we could rely on.?

    https://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/it-is-going-to-be-a-very-difficult-winter-if-the-global-energy-crisis-is-not-resolved-soon/

?But now those inventory buffers are nearly gone, the Iranians have been attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the Houthis are preventing Saudi tankers from getting through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait,
and the Ukrainains have been relentlessly attacking Russian refineries.
As a result, we are potentially facing a very difficult winter.?

?Most people do not understand how dire things have become because they
are still operating as if there was no energy crisis at all.?

The problem in the USA is not crude oil stocks, the problem is that we
have shut down too many refineries in Hawaii, California, and the East
Coast. Diesel is in short supply world wide and people outside the USA
are willing to pay more than people in the USA, even with shipping charges.

And the refineries in the USA should be converting to making heating oil instead of diesel very soon.

I am beginning to think that diesel in the USA will be $7 or $8 per US
gallon by December. That is very bad since all of our goods are moved
by truck or train, both powered by diesel. And the games that the EPA
has been playing with our diesel motors is causing rampant failures in
diesel motors with less than a 100,000 miles on them, motors that used
    to last 600,000 miles routinely.

Oh, well, it's only a matter of time -- the fire code is being
adjusted to make 60-70 year old oil tank replacement mandatory in a
few years. This is to try an get ahead of all the tanks finally
rusting out, IIRC, and polluting a lot of land which has houses on it.
    We shall see.

If this actually happens and hits early enough, it may provide the
    final push in November's election.

About a year ago, I saw a horror story of this nature, with the
cost of remediation being about $800k.

I've added a rider to cover this to my home insurance, but my
tank isn't leaking. replacing it (about 40 years old) is on

About a year ago, I saw a horror story of this nature, with the

Now /that/ would be a true disaster for me. There are limits to what I
can handle. Hopefully it involved factors not present here.

I've added a rider to cover this to my home insurance, but my
tank isn't leaking. replacing it (about 40 years old) is on
    the list though.

The State used to have a free Insurance program for this, but now the
theory is that you pay and then apply for a grant during an annual
open season. I can just imagine how well /that/ is going to work if
lots of tanks fail at the same time.

The oil company has, for years, had a Tank Insurance policy that we
pay for which might be of some help with decomissioning/replacing the
tank. Unless being required to do so by updated fire regs is excluded.
Note that this company, by its nature, has a /lot/ of oil tanks it is
    insuring.

Our Homeowners last February had a new Additional Coverage: Fuel Oil
Release $10,000. That should be some help. (It had another new one:
Bed Bugs $1,000). Of course, nobody ever /wants/ to actually need
their Homeowners to pay out because that only happens after some
    disaster or other.

Around here, we dig out the the leaking tanks and take the dirt over to Louisiana and burn the dirt. Not very cheap, in fact quite expensive. Luckily, most of our heating comes from natural gas furnaces or electric heating strips in the central air conditioning blowers. I had the
electric heating strips in both of the air conditioners of my office
building. But the north side unit failed in 2024 and I replaced it with
a heat pump. And backup heating strips.

And as far as the November election, not many people around here in
Texas are willing to vote for communists.

`Then it is great that they can chose Democratic Socialist Party members rather than those nasty Fascistic Communistic Oligarchs like

Intriguing. Perhaps you could give a pointer towards where I could find out about communists, as in actual commies, not socialists or dems, who are currently standing for election in Texas? How about in the entire US? Please be very clear about this. And please note that the ?far-left? members of
the Democratic Party would be considered center-right in most places other than the US. The late Maggie Thatcher, beloved of Ronnie Raygun, was considered a dangerous rightist in the UK; her policies were notably to the left of Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama, and Joe Biden. For one thing, Buenos Aries was not subjected to a bombing campaign; if Argentina had grabbed some American islands while Clinton, Obama, or Biden were prez, there would have been a sustained cruise missile assault, probably followed by Marines and the 82nd and 101st.

We actually have two vaguely-active communist parties in the US which run candidates for major office. The CPUSA was established with help from the Comintern and for many years basically followed the Soviet line no matter
what it was. They were more of a "pro-Russian" party than real communists
and HUAC pretty much destroyed them, but there is a little bit left. With
the fall of the Soviet Union and the death of Gus Hall and the loss of their newspapers there isn't really much left of them. They do occasionally run candidates for office but I don't think they have run anyone for president
    in over a decade.

The RCP (Revolutionary Communist Party) is an independent and sort of Maoist party that came out of California in the 1970s, run by Bob Avakian and they
do run Avakian for president every time. They promote Avakian more than they actually promote communism.

Both of these parties (as well as the Socialists) tend to run candidates for president without going for local offices. It could be argued that they are not serious about getting elected (as one would expect revolutionaries to be). Very distinct philosophy compared with some of the other small parties like
the Greens which run people for local elections with the intention of working upward.

Even Hitler was not as stupid as Trump. He wrote his own

Trump was not compared to Nazis; he was compared to Fascists.

    You are, of course, correct.

Calling Trump a Fascist is an insult to real Fascists everywhere.

Note: the same could be said of many derogatory terms. And many other

can convert to a heat pump while everyone else has the same idea.

Oh, well, it's only a matter of time -- the fire code is being
adjusted to make 60-70 year old oil tank replacement mandatory in a
few years. This is to try an get ahead of all the tanks finally
rusting out, IIRC, and polluting a lot of land which has houses on
    it.
    We shall see.

If this actually happens and hits early enough, it may provide the
    final push in November's election.

Around here, we dig out the the leaking tanks and take the dirt over
    to
Louisiana and burn the dirt. Not very cheap, in fact quite expensive.
Luckily, most of our heating comes from natural gas furnaces or
    electric
heating strips in the central air conditioning blowers. I had the
electric heating strips in both of the air conditioners of my office
building. But the north side unit failed in 2024 and I replaced it
    with
a heat pump. And backup heating strips.

And as far as the November election, not many people around here in
Texas are willing to vote for communists.

Intriguing. Perhaps you could give a pointer towards where I could find
    out
about communists, as in actual commies, not socialists or dems, who are >currently standing for election in Texas? How about in the entire US?
    Please
be very clear about this. And please note that the ?far-left?
    members of
the Democratic Party would be considered center-right in most places
    other
than the US. The late Maggie Thatcher, beloved of Ronnie Raygun, was >considered a dangerous rightist in the UK; her policies were notably to
    the
left of Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama, and Joe Biden. For one thing,
    Buenos
Aries was not subjected to a bombing campaign; if Argentina had grabbed
    some
American islands while Clinton, Obama, or Biden were prez, there would
    have
been a sustained cruise missile assault, probably followed by Marines
    and the
    82nd and 101st.

I'm not sure of your point here, as Ronnie Raygun was /not/ a Democrat
(never mind a communist, in any sense) and Thatcher was thought (when
she was thought of at all -- she was, after, not part of the USA
government) as rather conservative as well.

The assertion is based on Republican campaign propaganda. Well, at
least sometimes, there is Democrat campaign propaganda just as
well-attached to reality as Republican compain propaganda (which is to
say, not at all), and they do have Bernie, Hillary, and the Friends of
Bernie, who apparently still think they can sneak gummint healthcare
over on us by calling it "Medicare for all" when it really isn't
Medicare at all. So it isn't as if this nonsense were one-sided.

The Dems would be well-advised to muzzle these people, as every time
they speak votes slide away. Sadly, the Republicans show no desire,
never mind ability, to silence Trump. As I have noted before,
Democrats don't win elections, Republicans lose them (leaving the Dems
    as victors).

And, of course, the only poll that counts is coming up in 3 months.

It should be about time for the Courts to put a lid on all attempts to
change how the election is to be conducted until after it is over, to
    avoid confusing the voters.

I am concerned that the scum bucket in charge and/or his handlers are
going to try their very, very best to make sure the next election
doesn't happen or is so deeply "questioned" that the results will be
ignored. In other words, either cancel or discredit the results.

Get that heat pump in along with a solar/battery system to keep it working when your fuel burning generation plants break down again.

Indeed the farthest left members of the Democratic Party are moderates anywhere but in the USA where a campaign to wage war on the
poor has been run for over 50 years by the Republicans and their
supporting media. There is no widely known or experienced left wing
media as has been so frequently claimed by people who hate the
    publication of truth.

Why would it not be a single payer system of healthcare.
Of course it would be unpopular with the well off who can pay
for healthcare with or without insurance. For the people without
resources beyond very low wages or other income not like it.
Businessmen who have to contribute to healthcare in any event would
be happier to have its as well.

Actually they have won numerous elections and instituted policies that lead to renewed prosperity for the American people
and for business. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John
    F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barack
    Obama, and Biden.
The Republicans lost the election in 2026 and 2028 by
the re-election of Donald Trump with his imbecilic Tariffs
and his present revival of same under the Authority of the
Smoot-Hawley Act of 1930 which contributed to the Great
Depression, and the do nothing Republican/MAGA coalition
    in both houses of Congress.

Medicare for All (tm) would require a 12% employee tax and a 12%
employer tax. The populace would freak out. That is in addition to the
$400 per month that my wife and I each pay for our Medicare part B, D,
and G supplemental insurances. My 85 year old mother is paying $600 per
month due to her age. Do the math, the cost of health care in the USA
is simply amazing, IIRC it is now 19% of the USA GDP. I have no idea
    how to fix the cost.

This was changed in great part by people like Uncle Ron.

Part one of fixing the cost is in the Medicare For All proposal, which is
to decouple health care from employment. This doesn't cut costs at all,
but it does cut out private insurance for basic care, which is the first
    step toward evening costs out.

I sure wish I paid only $600/month for health care!
