How quickly things change, entire new weapons systems
effect defense and economy.
Some teenagers go out and do things rather than complain
about economy.
Read about decade old Sci-Fi becoming reality at many
citations, here are a few of many.
Recent U.S. defense contracts have been awarded to companies founded by
young adults, such as Mach Industries, which is developing a vertical
takeoff cruise missile for the Army, and Neros, which secured a contract
to produce military drones. These contracts highlight the growing role
of young companies with expertise in drone technology within the defense sector, particularly as the military plans a significant ramp-up in its
drone purchases.
Mach Industries: Founded by 21-year-old Ethan Thornton, Mach Industries
landed a U.S. Army developmental contract in 2024 to create a vertical
takeoff cruise missile, called "Strategic Strike". The company is also building its first 115,000-square-foot weapons factory in Huntington
Beach, California.
Neros: Founded by former teenage drone racers in 2023, Neros secured a contract from the U.S. Army. This follows the company's initial success, including raising $121 million and having its drones already in use by Ukraine.
US Army drone expansion: These developments align with the U.S. Army's
recent announcement to purchase at least one million drones within the
next two to three years, a significant ramp-up driven in part by lessons learned from the conflict in Ukraine. The Army is actively seeking to
adopt new drone technologies to meet future warfare needs.
