    I started this series awhile back. I recently picked it up again. I am enjoying it, except he keeps killing off characters I like. Not as bad
    as in Game of Thrones, but enough to be annoying.

    extremely liberally. I know this from personal experience. Unlike his
    books which are mostly conservative, Scalzi is quite liberal in real life.

    In fact, I believe that I am mentioned in his Mallet book.
