The snippet I'm trying to retrieve
has him walking into an office building
and then EVERYONE, from the elevator
operator to the people just walking
around to the worker at the small
convenience shop... ALL of them
rush to attack him.

Anyone recall the book? Thanks

I believe that it's _The Stainless Steel Rat Saves the World_. All
of the occupants of the building are minions of He.

I'm not sure that the building was in NYC, but will accept correction.
