These stories have been going for at least 15 years or more...

Being a very long running webcomic doesn't mean its *good* however,
merely that the author has the ability to keep the site up and
    churn out output.

The example I'm thinking of if Sinfest (https://sinfest.xyz).

It started good, in 2000, as a joke-a-day strip with a small
cast of engaging characters, most especially It-gir Monique
and Slick, a short stud with a never-requited torch for
'nique. The art style was clean and very pleasant.

It was great until about 2010, when it suddenly took a very
hard turn into second wave feminism, then over the years
turned SWERF, TERF, MAGA, and now has flat-out anti-Semitic
    and neo-Nazi themes.

All with the same clean, pleasant art style it starte out
    with.

Watching this slow-motion trainwreck are lot of people
on reddit, but every strip reposted is covered with a
    warning label.

Something I've noticed long-runners have in common is an extra-
ordinary ability to ignore setbacks. Stuff that would deter any
reasonable person does not deter them.

Obs lack of talent could be one of things any reasonable person
might be detered by. That said,

Sinfest isn't exactly grit overcoming inability. It's a classic, well-documented case of the Brain Eater.

Hmmph. No Schlock Mercenary. I didn’t think that there would be. Yes,
it’s concluded, but any webcomic which has feathered t-rexes really should make the list. Make that an angry, hungry, feathered t-rex. https://www.schlockmercenary.com/2020-07-24

No Freefall. Really, no Freefall? Florence is very disapointed. Sam is about
    to steal your computer.

No Sluggy. Bun-bun wants a word.

No Sabrina Online. What, talking Transformers and 1980s Amigas that not only still work but still do useful work ain’t fantasy enough? And if not, doesn’t the fact that notorious porn slut Zig-Zag actually keeps most of
her clothes on most of the time count as not just fantasy, but High Fantasy? The current story arc has Zig not just keeping her clothes on, but go deep, deep, DEEP into her backstory. (Okay, so Sabrina and Zig are talking skunks; more fantasy, particularly as Zig is a quarter white tiger, which should
    count as Fantasy Plus.)

Bun-bun will want a slice of the reviewer most likely.

So on Team Amiga we have several individuals who are using their Amigas on a daily basis for the usual stuff but also at least one who is still developing
and posting his programs to Aminet. So that ain't a fantasy at all,
    just unlikely.

Yas, yas. Quite fantastic even though I have never looked at the mention comic.

bliss - a fount of nearly useless information about people
who only existed as images poorly printed on cheap paper
and in the minds of countless young victims of cheap presses.
