The IMT story unconsciously repeats Clarke's first (or so I think)
    story, "Travel by Wire".

Clarke's early stories had a tendency to have a twist in the last line,
and in this one the inventor of wire-based teleportation confesses that
he would never travel that way.

Despite being something of a Clarke completist at the time, I didn't
encounter the story until the 1990s.
