The original story by Pat Mills and John Wagner, illustrated by
Dave Gibbons, was published in 8 parts in Dr Who Magazine nos
19-26, 14 Feb to 3 April 1980. Big Finish Productions did an audio
version with Tom Baker for Dr Who: The Comic Strip Adaptations
Volume 1, released 13 March 2019. End Quote.

So is this really a 40-odd year old script that has been recycled??

I think most people knew that Daniel. Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons
featured in the "Doctor Who: Unleashed" episode that followed Doctor
Who on BBC3 last Saturday talking about their creation and the comic
strip. David Tennant even asked them to sign a copy of a DWW which
    featured the "Star Beast" strip.

Dave might not have known that though!

Sort of. Elements of the story were in a comic strip in DWM in 1980. The
Big Finish production was an audio play based on the comic strip.

This year’s TV story uses the base plot of the 1980 story to weave into a story built around the 14th Doctor, Donna and her daughter Rose.

Ah!! O.K., so probably not the first time things have been
    recycled!!

    Definitely not...

For instance, RTD recycled [or nicked the best bits of] the Big
Finish audio "Jubilee" in to the TV episode "Dalek".

The two-parter “Human Nature” came from a seventh Doctor novel.

You mean her son Jason who thinks he's a girl. Don't confuse him even
further. He didn't even notice the lack of breasts on him. Big giveaway.

But neither of those stories were sidelined so as to hypocritically
lecture the audience and make the episodes about a transgender bigot who despises men and the fact that he's a man himself, who dares to insult
David Tennant because he identifies as male and men are all evil and
    women are better.

It's a good job that you noticed for us all then isn't it?!

But also, it's hard to notice things like that when you are watching

Where is the script does it say that?

Did you watch the actual episode?
His school mates call him Jason as goes his grandmother.
