The Americanised garbage movie starring Paul McGann. One for completist collectors, but just don't bother watching it. :-)

Doctor Who: The Movie has been newly restored for 4K and Blu-ray
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
Experience the Eighth Doctor's debut in stunning 4K and well as
a whole host of special features.

In 1996, Paul McGann debuted as the?Eighth Doctor?in?Doctor Who,

feet!) have been pulled from deep storage in the US and
meticulously scanned over 21 days, then restored by Paul Vanezis
to provide a definitive 4K experience.

The TV Movie?has never looked or sounded so good, with a 24-frame
transfer to match the original film rushes, and immersive surround
sound, rebuilt from the original raw sound elements.

Also starring Sylvester McCoy (the Seventh Doctor), Daphne
Ashbrook (Grace), Eric Roberts (The Master) and Yee Jee Tso (Chang
Lee), The TV Movie sees the Doctor's regeneration triggered on an
operating table, with surgeon Grace Holloway accompanying the new
Doctor on an epic adventure to prevent the Master from stealing
    the Doctor's future lives.

It's infinitely superior or the RTD garbage and features Sylvester
McCoy's best ever performance as the Doctor when he was given decent
material to work with. It treads Whittaker and Gatwa well into the
ground, even Tennant who is now totally discredited.

Apparently it was all the "daily rushes", not just the actual released versions of the movie.

"Got to give Paul Vanezis, Mark Ayres and everybody else involved
in this tons of plaudits for this. They really went above and
beyond for this release. Getting all 219 rolls of 35mm film
transferred from America to the uk for scanning. 37 hours of
rushes in total. All needing scanned and reassembled. Plus on
the audio side there is 92 1/4" tapes, A bunch of 8-track
digital DTRS cassettes, and DAT cassettes. Not counting the
8 x 2? 24-track tapes that were also digitised for this. This
has been a very expensive and time full endeavour. I'm very much
looking forward to ordering the 4k steelbook. There might not be
as much new features as I would like but with what they have done
I completely understand where the money is going on this."

It's certainly superior to most of the Doctor Who stories

I am letting it be known that I legally own this content despite the VHS sleeve claiming that I don't actually own the tape which is sitting in
my cabinet, after having paid a lot of money to buy it, therefore I have
the right to a free upgrade. Torrants are a legal means of distributing upgrades. I am not paying twice for something that already legally
belongs to me. If the BBC were to send me the blu-ray I would pay for
shipping and the cost of the disc which would be something around œ2
combined. This would be a fair deal. I can provide a photo of the tape
    and the box.

Really? He didn't seem to have much to do in the TVM from what I
    saw.

He was drinking tea in the TARDIS, arrived in San Francisco, got
    shot, died, and then regenerated.

I doubt he got more than twenty minutes of screen time in a 90
    minute movie.

He was only the appetiser for the main course.

But I suppose it was better than his performances in the TV
series that got Doctor Who cancelled... so maybe you're right.

It wasn't his TVM, he was only in it to regenerate... I doubt he
got twenty minutes of screen time, yet you think that was his
best performance as the Doctor. Which basically means the three
years he did on the show were not any of his best performances
    then, doesn't it?

So yes, the Seventh Doctor's era was [generally] poor, it looked
shit, the audience stopped watching it... then the show got
    cancelled. These are FACTS!

If the show was getting ratings above Coronation Street it
wouldn't have been cancelled, regardless of what anyone at the
BBC thought of the show personally. As it was, the ratings went
down the pan, the end was inevitable. Sylvester McCoy's
performances played a part in that. It wasn't the whole story,
but it was certainly a factor behind people not watching Doctor
    Who.

But, he was great in the TVM... WELL, THAT'S ALRIGHT THEN!

My computer is capable of playing 4K Blu-Rays and it is only three years

I got an external DVD-burner for my computer a few years ago. I didn't

Hey, Aggy, I'm guessing that, like the rest of the posters here-abouts, you've brought a car sometime in the past.

Do you expect those manufactures/retailers to supply you with a new car every year?? Three years?? Five years?? Ten years??

They do that if you lease the car instead of buying it, but it is a
hideously expensive way of having a car. You can also do similar plans
for mobile phones, computers, etc. :-)

Streaming / ditigal subscriptions are similar - you always get the
newest version ... until they suddenly decide to stop hosting it.

I am not paying even œ60 for a blu-ray drive I cannot even use to play
4K discs, and I'm not spending many hundreds of pounds on a stand-alone
4K player which is no longer being made or supported by any major brand.

These tossers including the copyright bodies and studios collectively
killed off physical media because of the above.

I already have an external DVD usb drive and stand-alone player. If 4K

    This one will:

    https://www.microcenter.com/product/690617/verbatim-ultra-hd-4k-usb-32-gen-1-blu-ray-writer

and this is just at Micro Center's Dallas store. I bet they have some
more at their Houston store, or one of their other stores.

Oh, look, here's another one that will:

    https://www.amazon.com/XRTFORE-External-Portable-Blu-Ray-Optical/dp/B0FKZ9R42Z/ref=sr_1_22?crid=2DD45U6EBIPOQ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.IFfoGPAQNd6suHi7PBojMUmLuv1VIgStw3dzR5ftGzdwciJQmsAhuw2BHJx4VjHyQEhnPoKWjyZgrdZGJELOdU0k7DB_j4R5skHGvYn_diLaMcQ1nLSgd3BDHaWgMdb6AUbUw7QsfRn99c_E_iwgzYdPu2pxrmsjTWKd1l9TSG-5I2p1WLJCUqn511Ud7vR5yqQ4IK68MUN4fITH09F3DUH6QNSQeg2VedTr-wNERYk.Rh1fvsbq6HvZjS5aYdQFyWxbxJkVpLQOkRYB7zgB6VY&dib_tag=se&keywords=blu%2Bray%2Bdrive%2Bfor%2Bpc&qid=1771982885&sprefix=blu%2Bray%2Bdrive%2Caps%2C177&sr=8-22&th=1

With a 5 second Google search, your pathetic argument falls to
dust....end of story. I can provide more examples, but I'm not into
    kicking someone while they're down.

    So, you have two options:

    1. Go buy one of these two drives that will play the media you want them to.

    or

    2. Sit in the corner, sulk, whinge, whine, and play victim while the
rest of us go on without you.

If someone buys a car then they own it. The registration papers are put
in their name. The same goes for buying a house, or a horse, or a
toaster. When they buy a CD, or a DVD, or a VHS tape, or even a digital download, apparently they don't own it at all. Read the sleeve or edge
of the disc. They only have the right to watch or listen to it, so it's
    not the same issue.

I got an external DVD-burner for my computer a few years ago. I didn't bother with Blu-ray at that time because they were a lot more expensive

I think at this point the drives will play everything, and the 4K

works like a charm. I've seen them as high as $200, but I didn't see

As usual, when you've been proven wrong, resort to ad hominems.

The CPU instructions which are needed to enable 4K playback were never
included in any AMD CPU and Intel removed them from its CPUs after the
10th generation and they were never present in any generation before
    the 7th.

After that the arse licking manufacturers all replaced the firmware
that could be hacked to rip 4K discs with encrypted firmware which
couldn't. Therefore it is impossible to play or even rip 4K blu-rays
in order to watch them on your PC.

Right...keep holding onto that fantasy if it makes you feel better.

How about you do some fucking research instead of repeatedly proving
yourself to be an absolute moron.

Stop showing your complete and utter stupidity and lack of intelligence
    and comprehension.

This has nothing to do with Windows or Apple. There are NO modern CPUs
that can decrypt 4K blu-rays PERIOD! The last and ONLY CPUs that
supported decryption were Intel 7th to 10th Gen processors and that's
it. Without those chips 4K blu-rays cannot be played on a PC or Mac
unless you can hack the firmware of the player.
