Resident Alien Canceled Ahead of Season 4 Finale, Discloses Showrunner

Chris Sheridan, the creator and showrunner of the sci-fi mystery
series Resident Alien, disclosed the Season 5 renewal status ahead of
the finale of the fourth chapter. The show premiered on Syfy on
January 27, 2021. Season 2 was split into two parts, with the first
part debuting on January 26, 2022, and the second part debuting on
August 10, 2022. The third season came out on February 14, 2024,
followed by the fourth season on June 6, 2025. The latest chapter of
the show aired simultaneously on Syfy and USA Network.

Chris Sheridan and his team knew Resident Alien would get canceled
after Season 4

Resident Alien has been canceled ahead of the show's Season 4 finale,
which is scheduled to air on August 8, 2025. Sheridan revealed in a
new interview with TV Insider that he knew that the fourth season
would likely be the last chapter of the show when he and his team
began developing it. He said, "I knew going into it that this was
likely going to be our final season." He then proceeded to offer
details about how that impacted what became the last season of the
series.

"Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time
wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending," Sheridan
explained. "I'm so proud of how good Season 4 is and especially proud
that we were able to finish as strongly as we did, with a finale that
is probably my favorite episode of the series," he added.

Resident Alien is an adaptation of the comic book of the same name by
Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse and revolves around Alan Tudyk's
Harry Vanderspeigle, the eponymous alien who finds himself in the
fictional town of Patience, Colorado. Although he has been sent on
the mission to eradicate the human race, he grows close to people and
starts questioning everything he has known. The cast also includes
Sara Tomko as Asta, Corey Reynolds as Sheriff Mike, and Levi Fiehler
as Ben.

The previous three seasons and new episodes of Resident Alien are
streaming on Peacock.

audience doesn't return in big numbers.

Well, when you let years go between seasons, it's no surprise when the audience doesn't return in big numbers.

I canceled it I guess in the middle of season two.

Wash just got an action figure although not everybody aboard Serenity did
and the man called Jane has his face obscured.
