• Poetry After Midnight ? a Poet?s Strange & Beautiful Habit

From MummyChunk@3:633/10 to All on Mon Sep 21 17:20:39 2026
There?s something different about poetry written late at night, when the distractions are gone and ordinary thoughts start taking unexpected turns. Do you find that your best lines come at a particular time of day, or does inspiration arrive whenever it feels like it?

You know, I don't think I've ever tried. Every time I've had the
urge to write a poem, the sun has been up.

Maybe I should try nighttime poetry.

What about you? Do you do your best work in the night?

I can't focus on complex constructive tasks when I'm not reasonably clear-headed, but I've definitely had times of half-waking in the early
morning with a strong *image* in mind and an accompanying mood. If I'm
really lucky, I'll actually *remember* by the time I'm properly awake
    :/
