This is an old poem of mine, which that has been sitting on my blog relatively unnoticed for years. This week, though, I posted it one of my social media, and the response was big enough to encourage me to try it again on my other media as well.

Only the Lonely

The man in shades
strides to the mic
and declaims,
"Only the lonely
know the way I feel tonight ..."
" and ten thousand screaming,
chanting fans wedged up against
each other in the hall all together
suddenly feel so
lonely.
