• The Whovian Lesson: Ep 1

From Blueshirt@3:633/280.2 to All on Wed Jun 19 00:33:33 2024
There's been a lot of talk here recently about YouTube channels
with Doctor Who content, so here's my new mate 'Matrixlord212'
with his latest video, about Whovians... no mask, no beard and
glasses, just a Doctor Who fan telling it how it is...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKHostsrxUc

Judging by his comments it's almost like he reads RADW!

    :-)

Hm. Fortunately, youtube has a speed feature, x1.5 worked, but still
    seems like wasted time.

Some people are entitled? Welcome to the real world.

    He built what?

    And what's a whovian anyway?

Oh well. Back to beating up^W^W running past zombies in a gem of a game
that unfortunately doesn't get updates anymore. (Dead Maze)

A lot of YouTube content is a waste of time! Too many people
saying the same thing, rinse and repeat.

    Here's a video I like:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTyTOCUJJrc

(Youtube recommended it after I watched the new DST animated short.)

If you are here on RADW... you are a Whovian!

I don't really like the term either, but it's been around a long
time... it's 'our' version of Trekkie.

That's like saying I'm part of some community I'm not even aware of.

    I'm just me. :P

    RADW stands for rec.arts.drwhovians ...

So welcome to our harmonious community fellow Whovian! :-)

    Nice try...

RADW might (MIGHT) stand for Rec.Arts.DrWho (which is NOT a
newsgroup!!) or rec.arts.drwhovians (which is also NOT a
newsgroup) but it doesn't stand for rec.arts.drwho!! ;-P

Tomorrow it might be... well, for a day or two anyway. As the
resident loons will be out in force after tonight's 'Season
    Finale'!

Loon No.1 will claim it's woke garbage produced to sexually
groom children and only 127 people watched it.

Loon No.2 will supply an AI generated review that will probably
have no bearing on the actual episode at all... and if he does
type something himself, it will be full of spelling errors and
nobody will know what the fuck he's on about anyway!

[I might activate my Bozo Bin for a few days so I can have a
    peaceful weekend watching the football.]

He doesn't know what he's talking about .....

    Who on YouTube does! ;-)

I mean he even mentions pre-Hartnel incarnations!!

Well... The 'Fugitive Doctor' has to fit somewhere, unless she
is just someone's bad dream. After all, we have seen her in
episodes of Doctor Who. So ... <shrugs> [*]

When I first read, here, of 'The Fugitive Doctor' I thought whomever had mentioned that term was mis-spelling 'The Future Doctor' i.e. someone to follow on somewhere after JodieDoctor rather that someone pre-DoctorBill.

Is the implication, now, that it was 'The Fugitive Doctor' that pinched
    The TARDIS rather than DoctorBill??

[*] I didn't put a smiley there as with RTD you just don't
    know... anything is possible!

No, the Fugitive Doctor is shorthand for the Doctor from the Jodie episode “Fugitive of the Judoon” with cameo appearances in “Flux” and “Power of the
Doctor”. She is a pre-Hartnell incarnation; probably, though not
necessarily, the one who was mind-wiped and regenerated to childhood to
become the Hartnell Doctor. The minus-1th Doctor, if you like.

As she had a TARDIS that liked being a police box, it’s possible that two different Doctors stole the same TARDIS TWICE - which sounds a bit
improbable, but recall from “The Name of the Doctor” that Clara GUIDED Hartnell into stealing the “right” TARDIS, and it becomes less so.

Ah!! So maybe there was a fault with-in the TARDIS Type 40 (or whatever
they were called prior to Susan calling them/it A TARDIS) system so
that, once it had adopted the shape of an Earth 1960's Police Box, the system became stuck in that Mode, so The Fugitive Doctor might have put
HER Type 40 in for repairs .... allowing DoctorBill to then pinch it!!

[With apologies to the late Douglas Adams]

The way the original TARDIS chameleon circuit functioned was very
interesting. When the TARDIS materialised in a new location, the circuit
made an instant and highly detailed examination of the TARDIS’ immediate surroundings, researched its data banks for all past and future knowledge
of the environment it found itself in, made an analysis of the materials in
all nearby non-living artefacts of suitable exterior dimensions, and then
sent tiny experimental signals down the neural pathways of any local living beings to the perception centres of their brains, or the nearest
equivalent, to see what sort of object was most likely to go unnoticed.

However, no one knew quite why it did this; because it invariably decided
to make the TARDIS assume the shape it was most comfortable with, usually a large nondescript office cupboard, but in one notorious case a small
building from mid 20th century Britain on the unimportant and mostly
harmless world of Earth, called a “Police Box”. The Police Box TARDIS was usually almost, but not quite, entirely the most incongruous object in its vicinity and frequently found itself impounded, towed or dragged away, and
in extreme circumstances, doused in kerosene and set alight in hopes of
making it disappear. This never worked.

The Chameleon King (TM) was designed and manufactured by the Prydonian Perceptionetics Corporation, whose complaints department now completely
sprawls across all the major planets of the oldest and shabbiest three
planets in the Kasterborous Star Cluster.

You didn't watch those episodes either?

    (They were before Disney+.)

Yes, I have watched those episodes, but ...... details!!
details!! I'm not big on Details! ;-P

You couldn't have missed a Doctor with a TARDIS... a Doctor that
    wasn't one of 'the' Doctors!!!

Too late! I have consumed way too much RADW and I am now under
    the influence...

    Hehe.

There is no help out there that can rectify this. Sorry.

Hm, then maybe it's best that you're happy with it. Better than unhappy.
