Clean water

In the Russian city of Yekaterinburg (population 1.3 million), a city official dismisses the idea that clean water ought to be clear as "Western propaganda". Brown water flows from the taps there, and apparently, that is supposed to be good enough.

Of course, I know, it’s only Russia, but...

In the US, the right to clean water is now under threat as well. There was already a scandal during the Obama administration. It cost Hillary her shot at the White House. Back then, the water in Flint, Michigan, was contaminated with lead. Obama visited, and everyone thought he would do something about it. To the dismay of the Black community, he didn't; he suddenly claimed the water was good enough. Michigan went to Trump in the 2016 election.

Now, Trump is rolling back EPA regulations, meaning water quality is no longer treated as a government responsibility. US judges, too, do not see a right to clean water in the US Constitution.
