My kid's school paid more than $2 million dollars for fabric phone pouches (called Yondr bags.)

The Yondr bags have a magnetic lock that only the elite school employees are able to unlock. This is supposedly to keep the kids from using their phones during school hours.

The elite school employees said "If your Yondr bag gets damaged then you will have to pay for the damages."

Now it's the last day of school and the reptilian principal sent an email to the parents saying "Tell the kids to toss the Yondr bags into the plastic bins located throughout the school."

I thought the $2 million dollars was a one-time purchase, but now that these million dollar pouches are being discarded like empty milk cartons, it makes me strongly suspect that $2 million dollars is the annual cost of using them.

Maybe teach your chilren a little discipline, and the school would not have to resort to such matters.

They are there to get an education, not stare at their phones all day.

They aren't there to get an education. They are there to get indoctrinated.

They don't want them to have phones because
    1. They won't pay attention to the incompetent "teacher" indoctrinating them. 2. They don't want the kids to record what the "teacher" says/does in the classroom.
    3. The kids might actually learn something using their phones.

It ruins a lot of stuff.

We had a teacher (luckily, I didn't have her class) back in Jr. High that used to punish the whole class for what one kid did. By the end of the semester, her class was completely unrulely because the normally non-bad kids basically thought that since they did the time, they could do the crime.

Teachers do that because they want to provoke other children to bully the one who misbehaved.

Stuff like that is the reason why I wanted to become a teacher when I finished high school. Kids need adults that they can count on.

But that only works if the rest of the class knows who did it. And that's not usually the case.

Every other teacher I had punished the problem kid for doing wrong, not the whole class for what one problem kid did.

Stuff like that is the reason why I wanted to become a teacher when I finished high school. Kids need adults that they can count on.

I thought about becoming a teacher at one point. But my dad was still living at the time and had 40+ years in teaching school. I heard all the stories about what went on and it only got worse before he retired. So I passed on that.

I'm glad I didn't do it. Imagine earning a master's degree (they require that in my state) in a field that you're passionate about, only to find out that you just signed a pact with the devil.

    That would have sucked!

That was one of the things my dad was pissed about.

I graduated with a BS in Computer Science. He had to get a Masters, plus do student teaching to get his teaching certificate. Yet my starting salary was almost at his level - and he had been teaching for 30+ years by then.

I keep wondering why people would want to become a teacher today. It just isn't worth it.

And then there's the number of teachers that I had who quit soon after to go into some better paying profession. Ex: My algebra teacher in Jr. High - who was a really good teacher - quit a few years after I had him to do into a programming job. He actually ended up becomming a computer teacher for adults (usually professionals). And his pay was multiples of what he made in the public schools.

The starting salary for NY teachers when I was in college was about $45,000. It sounded like a lot to me back then, but it's not worth it. Not when compared to the earning potential in other fields (like business, accounting, economics, law, etc.)

And then to be forced to hand a chunk of your paycheck over to the elitists who are trying to kill you? I don't think I'd make it through the interview process. I always, always fail at interviews when they're looking for butt-kissers. I can't answer the WEF-approved questions "Tell me about a time when.."

IHMO: I think this was planned.

Choice: Get a 4 year education and a BS, and start at $50,000 in a corporate job - and in 10 years be at $100,000.
    or
Get a 4 year education for a BS, plus another 2 years for an MS, then do student teaching (I don't know how much they get paid for this - if anything), to start at $25,000 - and in 10 years be at $50,000.

So the only people who go into teaching are the ones that are truely dedicated to teaching (and get burned out and leave) and the morons.

I remember my dad being pissed because he wanted out of the teacher's union. They made it extremely hard.
    1. You could only opt out over like a 2 week window, not during the school year.2. They **still** took money out of your paycheck because "we do collective
    bargaining on your behalf".

It's robbery. The left has made union membership look more appealing by tying it in with medical and dental plans, but I still don't see the advantage; my wife pays union dues, but still has to pay for health insurance. So it's like paying for health insurance twice, plus the joy of having some of the money go to the Democrats.

For once, I think Aaron is right here. Most Unions make their money from
their members, and most of them put a lot of money into politics backing Democrat candidates, who gladly accept the donations.

It shouldn't have anything to do with politics, period, but that is one

This means do not believe anything a electic official say. Do you
own research to find out if they telling the truth or telling a

much de-regulation screwing up the economy, stock market for the

increased and waste in DOD spending, there is non accountability

need to be fired. When they are elected and if they can not do
there job they should all the fired.

Another fact is that some of agencies think they are above the law
