Sitting on your porch with a whiskey and shotgun ? :-)I remember when my daughter was born I had this idea that i would never drink again incase something happened and I needed to drive her to the hospital or something. Funny the way you think things will go or how different everything will be. One of the things that surprises me the most is how much so much of life has stayed the same after her birth and also how much better other parts of gotten.

Nah, bourbon or sour mash

Mezcal is my drink of choice though, even if it's only an ounce or two a
week.
I certainly gave that a nudge a couple of years back tripping around Mexico on a food and beverage tour for a couple of weeks - Most excellent place an people.

Hmmm, yummy. We can get some decent Mezcal up here in Montreal but
everytime
I have a bottle from Mexico it is on such a completely different level.
Where
abouts did you go?
Yes, I do remember thinking such things. The biggest though was wow I was responsible for my daugnter for her very life and well being. That was ove 47 years ago. Now because of my health she is taking are of me. In fact a my kids are involvd.

Hiya Michael,
Mexico City, Puebla, Oaxaca and Huatulco
Well now I am even more jealous, I hear Oaxaca has some of the best in
the world. I'd love to hear any recommendations for any of those
places as I might be visiting Mexico City next year.
To be honest, I can't remember, I visited some distilleries and ploughed in o
many :-)
When my health goes I can only hope to be as lucky as you and have family around me like you do while I hang out on fidonet and surf telnet BBS's :)
That thought also blows my mind about the responsibility for all of that and
more. How has she surprised you over the years with who she turned out to be
in the end versus who you imagined her to become as you watched her grow?
I am sure your family will be there for you.
All my kids have more than surprised me. They hung in there not only tough but loving when I was in my worst chaped totall inubated and not
for sure if I was going survive my heart issues.
My brothers and my sister were also supporting them. I have 7 broters
and 1 sister.

One will hope. When I was young my parents moved away from the rest of my family and it was only in my later years that I moved back to this side of the country where I'm closer to them. Growing up without any family
close by
diminishes ones, or my, attachment to them and as such I haven't really made
a big effort to maintain strong relationships. We just kind of make our own
pod and focus on that. So accepting of the fact that at the end it'll probably be a much smaller group helping me get on but this is the life we lead

That is remarkable, especially in this day and age where that sense of collectivism seems to have been replaced whole-heartedly with individualism.
How's the ticker these days?
My brothers and my sister were also supporting them. I have 7broters

1 brother and a number of 1/2 and step sisters in the wings but they are all
5000KM away. I'm hoping that relationship will strengthen over time but I'm
not one to force it.
Thanks for sharing though, makes me stop and appreciate the beautiful family
I have and cherish these moments.
