A KLM flight from Atlanta to Amsterdam was canceled Tuesday shortly before departure after a panicked passenger opened the emergency exit door of the Boeing 777-200ER.

The aircraft, registration PH-BQI, was about to operate flight KL622 and was already en route to the runway. The man experienced a panic attack when he suspected a fellow passenger had a weapon, police told CBS News.

He then called 911 and ran to the emergency exit, which he opened. This activated the emergency slide.

The aircraft returned to the gate, and the flight was canceled. The passenger was checked on-site by paramedics and subsequently arrested. He is currently in custody at the Clayton County Jail.
