• Poker Face

From Trevor Wilson@3:633/280.2 to All on Thu Feb 16 05:46:34 2023
I've been watching Poker Face. Pretty good so far. Not brilliant, but certainly watchable. I've read that it has been compared to Columbo.
Well, maybe. The credits look the same. However, I thought I might watch
a few Columbo episodes to refresh my memory. I backed that up with some
old Quincy M.E. episodes too. Fabulous. Both series are excellent and
stack up very well in 2023.

Columbo yes, Quincy ME not so much.

I dug out the box set of the BBC series of Smiley's people and Tinker
tailor soldier spy. I don't think that they've ever been bettered, Alex Guinness as Smiley and great production standards not to mention great
    stories to start with.

Episode 21. If nothing else, it was a standout episode and quite
different from the usual Quincy episodes.

BTW: I re-watched Frasier last year. Brilliant.

Endeavour was better than Morse IMHO, we watch Vera, but I liked
Shetland (from the same author) better. Best American comedy - Seinfeld,
best US series - The Sopranos, The wire, Breaking bad.

We've been watching Clarkson's Farm, Clarkson isn't the most likeable character, but it's fun to see him bumbling and fucking up in his overconfident way. It also shows the shit that UK farmers have to go
    through with bureaucracy gone mad.

We've just watched series 2, I hope that they make a third series
although that is touch and go after his outburst about Megan Markle.

Another worthwhile series is "Slow horses" on Apple TV, the book series
    is also a worthwhile read.

ÿ > **Yeah, I remember that series. It was pretty good. For my part,
I kinda wish they'd make more Endeavour episodes. Still, if they did,
maybe quality would slip. There's always Vera to keep me amused.

Endeavour was better than Morse IMHO, we watch Vera, but I liked Shetland (from the same author) better. Best American comedy - Seinfeld, best US series - The Sopranos, The wire, Breaking bad.

**Shetland is a great watch. I watched Seinfeld at the same time that
my partner and I were watching Frasier. I loved Seinfeld, but I felt
that Frasier was better. The Sopranos was sublime. The Wire was
brilliant and Breaking Bad was just as good.

I've read all the Shetland books, the TV series don't follow them
exactly, but do have the essence of the books.

We've been watching Clarkson's Farm, Clarkson isn't the most
likeable character, but it's fun to see him bumbling and fucking up in
his overconfident way. It also shows the shit that UK farmers have to go through with bureaucracy gone mad.

**Clarkson's Farm was pretty good. Two standout scenes:

The queue of people buying over-priced stuff from his stall.
Racing across the farm in a Lambo? I can't recall.

We've just watched series 2, I hope that they make a third series
although that is touch and go after his outburst about Megan Markle.

Another worthwhile series is "Slow horses" on Apple TV, the book series
    is also a worthwhile read.

**Yeah. I really enjoyed Slow Horses.
