• comp.risks -- PGN died a few months ago

From David LaRue@3:633/10 to All on Tue Jun 16 13:52:24 2026
I went to Peter's Risks Site this morning to see why the feed seems to have stopped. The site mentions that he died a few months ago. It also mentions that the site will be maintained for a while, but that there will be no further posts.

He was a long standing source of documented problems to avoid making since before email as we know it today was standardized. No industry was spared.

Forgive me if this has been posted already.

Long live https://catless.ncl.ac.uk/Risks/ and PGN's contributions to computing and elsewhere!

Surprised and dismayed to learn that.

That he was. I remember several incidents well.

His Y2K coverage was, shall we say, a bit more even-handed than some
    others ...

Forgive me if this has been posted already.

    News to me, anyway.

Peter was a friend of mine. There are few days that I do not miss him
and his gigantic contributation to data security in general.
