They don't have a newer crawl date than July 12, 2025, so not too old.
I was curious as to what might be the unnamed awesome product. It's
"NAPS2" scanner software w/OCR. My Canon MFC printer came with scanning software which will save scans (which can be adjoined into one output)
into PDF files. Like NAPS2, it also does OCR, but I don't know how it
compares to the OCR in NAPS2. NAPS2 is FOSS (except for its UWP app),
and has a portable version. NAPS2 OCR is powered by Tesseract OCR; see:
https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tesseract, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesseract_(software)
Tesseract OCR works well on standard text, but struggles with complex
layouts (e.g., tables, charts). Intricate formatting may require lots of
manual corrections. OCR accuracy depends a lot on the quality of the
input scans.
Looks like NAPS2 has a Github project at:
https://github.com/cyanfish/naps2
so you could download it from there. It is also available as a UWP from Microsoft's Store:
https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9n3qq9w0b23q
(but costs $9.99 from there)
No mobile app for NAPS2, so no scanning docs by phones or tablets.
